Does anyone know the story behind the song "Soul Sanctuary"?
It is such an emotional song.

Sandra St Victor helped with the lyrics. Don't ask me who she is!

That and Curious Child, I love. Prince is one of few guys that would do such a mushy (but good) song, IMO.

Ahh . . . Disk 2 of Emancipation. One of my all time favorites.

Soul Sanctuary, Curious Child, Dreamin' about U. Beautiful, heart felt songs that truly touch your soul.

I don't know the story about the song itself, but I know a different story related to the song which I think is kinda cute. It was reported by Spike Lee. He said that he had really liked Emancipation when it had come out, but his absolute favourite had been "Soul Sanctuary". He had played the song over and over again, on a repeat mode. Finally Spike's wife told him to turn it off as she could not take any more. Spike, in his words, just loved the song.

The song was written by Sandra St.Victor and an uncredited Johnny Kemp.He's the singer who had that big 1988 hit "Just Got Paid".

I love this song!! It's so smooth and mellow.
