UK Sign o the Times DVD

I bought a copy a few weeks ago in Asda.
When i put it on it has a really crisp clear picture but the bloody dubbing is about half a second out.
Its terrible to watch.
Anyone else's copy does this? It was released by a company called Network.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Yeah its terrible in places (Gonna Be A beautiful Night Especially).

I think its because tehy've fiddled with it on the digital remaster and turned it to surround sound instead of stereo.

Set teh sound option to Stereo and its not as exciting to listen to but ever so slightly more in time.

Tell you one thing though the sound is crisp...listen to all the stuff in Slow Love and Play In The Sunshine that you've never heard before

I got the Canadian version after advice from the org members....

...and you can't get better than that!

The pic and sound are the best your going to get for a twenty year old film...

...but saying that it looks better than most dvd conversions of films half it's age!
We can Funk!!!!

The Canadian version is professional, there have been other bootleg quality ones... but you can tell by the packaging if its gonna be the real thing.

The Warehouse in NZ has heaps of copies and the price is only about $12 or $13 NZ (which is low, maybe $8-$9 US). Pity I can't find Rave 2000 here anywhere.

cheap, non brandname dvd players are sometimes region free.

The Alliance Atlantis version is great - I have the Canadian version (Region 1 NTSC) and it is an exceptionally crisp picture. Theoretically the Atlantis PAL version would have a better picture due to having more lines of horizintal resolution, but weighing that against the 4% speed up of the audio and the equipment I watch it on I'll stick with the Canadian version.
Synch issues - Prince is perhaps one of the worst lip-synchers ever - all his videos look to be out of synch. As the vast majority of SOTT is re-shot on the soundstage at PP, this suffers from the same problem. It is most noticable on U Got the Look. Without seeing the version you are referring to I can't tell if you are just noticing the bad lip synching by Prince or you have a badly syched transfer, but either way it is very noticable in this movie that the music is over0dubbed, even on the best version.

Mine plays on a cheapo multiregion player - these are easy to get in the UK at Richer Sounds and supermarkets. I can imagine that more expensive brand name players are set to multi region off (try the legal hacks on the pre-mentioned website).

My player jolts around esp during the little red corvette/housequake scene, so i think thats my old player not being able to keep up with the disc!
