Prince and Michael Jackson onstage with JB

This has probably been discussed before, but I just saw the footage, and I have to say Prince pulling over that streetlamp prop as he leaves the stage is hilarious! Has P ever done anything as uncool as that before or since?!?

There should be a permanent sticky about this incident.
Glad you have finally saw it though.
I always laugh when i see JB carrying Prince jacket at the end of the footage, its kinda like "you going home now boy!!"
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I've seen it too. I wish they would release that officially. It's amazing to see Prince and James and Mike on the same stage in 1983, each doing there own thing.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

MJ acted like he had somekind of crush on Prince. He was the one that whispered Prince's name into JB's ear like a school girl with a crush on the varsity quaterback (not that this portrays Prince accurately).

Prince's performance wasn't great, but it wasn't bad enough to dampen the performance overall. The vibe was upbeat (mostly due to JB and MJ). I was stunned at how great MJ's improvisation and voice is live. eek

It seems that at that age, Prince just didn't imrpovise well. He seemed more like an artist who had to rehearse the shit out of his performances.

James Brown was not very nice about Prince's performance that night, in some interview he dissed Prince and praised Michael, does anyone remember the quote? Something about how Michael studied James' dancing for years and Prince couldn't keep up...

That sounds like James ego talking. Prince did not need to keep up with James moves. Prince had a few of his own.

Yeah. It was really sad though... James was truly Prince's hero. It must have been terrible for him to share a stage with James Brown at long last... and have to share it with teacher's pet Michael, then have James play favorites.

The best part of the clip is when P threw his glove out into the audience when he was being carried on Big Chick's back and the person that caught it threw it back at P. evillol

The thing I like about this performance is that Prince totally played up that spaced out, purple mystery persona thatnhe was into at the time. People often say he was on something, but if you watch any Prince show from 1980-1985 Prince often played himself as aloof and spooky. The tortured genius. I dug it because people had to be asking "Wtf is he doing?". He was just being Prince. He illstrated how he was different. He picked up a guitar, stripped down to his pants, pouted, and plucked that guitar all sexylike. Then, he tore down the lamp post--hilarious.

Exactly! Prince did his thing, played guitar and then did his wicked screaming. So he knocked over a prop leaving the stage, he's human.

whoknows

Man, that was some FUNNY SHIT! Wasn't P's night, but you've got to admire the sheer balls of the guy to step onto a forign turf and weird it up like that. Shambolic as it was I gotta say I'm impressed. I always loved it when P used to dance. Good to see some cool little moves in there, but to all the haters out there. Did Michael slam dunk that motherfucker or didn't he? Damn!

He touched his hair alot...does that mean he had headlice? He also wiped his eyes..does that mean he was losing a contact leans? LOL. Prince always moved like that on stage when he performed, when he's geting to the music, etc. And I can tell it was hot on that stage.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.
