Please excuse if this topic has been discussed already, but I just read a post saying that songs from 3121 haven't done well (chartwise) because they're not be played on many radio stations. I'm in LA and there is a station KJLH (owned by Stevie Wonder), that plays songs throughout the day from 3121. Unfortunately, this is the only one! All of us fans have to keep in mind that most stations are only going to play songs that they get Payed to play. I don't care what time of the day it is, most stations are either playing Mariah Carey, Mary J., Kanye West, etc, in rotation. It really bothers too, that this is the case, but most talented artists experience the same thing.

Just keep in mind, what stations played any songs from Musicology? Yet who had the highest grossing concert sales in 2004?

Hmmm, I didn't know that. The 3121 situation aside, I've wondered for a few years if Prince just likes complaining about radio - if he really cared about it, wouldn't he buy ownership stake in a radio station and start broadcasting the music he thinks radio should be playing?

Wow, that's too bad. I can't tell you how many songs I've heard on the radio that inspired me to by an album that I would not have considered otherwise.

In fact, Little Red Corvette on WGCI turned me onto Prince and made me get someone to buy me 1999 as a kid.

I heard "Leaving Las Vegas" in college and was spellbound..Who is this, I thought? And that made me buy Tuesday Night Music Club and get to know Sheryl Crow.

"You Oughta Know!" my god!

Just yesterday, I heard "Goodbye, My Lover" by James Blunt ...and knew I could no longer put off buying that album. I got it today on my lunch hour.


People like to saydPrince doesn't need the radio, but if he's missing out on tons of potential album sales. But besides that, some songs are lifechanging. There are none on 3121 that's changed my life like those mentioned above, but for others there might be.

So, I hope something from 3121 gets played soon.

The only song I've heard from 3121 on the radio is Black Sweat. It gets played on the local public radio station in Minneapolis.

Nary a peep in Sactown....but they didn't play much of Musicology either....
