The Prince Poilce!

I just read the post about "Prince can find you" and have some good news for everyone smile

As was pointed out what most people do not realise, when you delete your net history and temp files - they are still on your computer even though you can't see them. Even when you open up a file this is reorded and takes up space in your hard drive. Even an empty recycle bin is not really empty!

Like most people I was worried about spams and no privacy so I downloaded a program called Evidence Eliminator that I use everyime I get off the internet. You can find it at www.cnet.com

Evidence Eliminator will totally wipe all those hidden files and web pages that you saw yourself delete but are still there...not only that it takes away any rubbish and gives a really good general clean up. It won't delete any files or programs that are supposed to be there and you can change settings to delete the contents of specific files ect - such as emails you deleted in outlook or whatever.

You do only get a free 30 day trial, after that you have to buy it - which I did and let me tell you though it is well worth it!

I don't really think Prince is that obsessive he sits there and scans the org for things said about him he doesn't like - unless he employs someone else to do it hehehehehee. I'm sure he has better things to do with his time like creating music.

If anyone wants more info in EE send me a message and I can email you some details wink

Cheers,

Cliffy

Ever heard of a hard delete? It deletes things from your hard drive.

You put your finger on the delete button and push really hard.

Failing which, you just hit it with a hammer.

If that doesn't work, hit yourself in the head with a hammer. hammer wink

stop hating on people he thinks are letting info out and get on with the show shall we???
he's probably sitting out there in the land of Nod reading this smack and vainly considering why all his fans are freaks, but u know what who cares anyway... if he takes the tyme to find you, would any of U really be MAD?

We are just naturally great and Prince will leave us alone because we are Mac guys!

The reason that the files still exist is because deleting files simply changes the resource header information... the file exists, but is not visible anymore and can be overwritten. This is why there are programs out there that can "undelete" your files if you have not written to the disk much after losing your data... you can destroy many deleted files by simply defragmenting your drive, as the deleted files will be overwritten by data that is being moved...

Or... you can go the easy way and use a shareware utility such as this to delete the headers:

http://www.versiontracker...932&db=mac

Or... Aladdin Secure Delete:

http://www.aladdinsys.com...re_delete/

Or... Shred It:

http://www.mireth.com/pub/sime.html

There are a lot of programs that will do the trick.

I hope this helps.

IceNine - Thanks! Yeah, Wipe Info in Norton SystemWorks helps too.

Never heard of Shred It, thanks for that! I'm checking them all out!

BUT I can't download WipeResourceHeader 1.0.1. Oh well.
