Prince & Larry Grahm Pray In Limousine

I found this. It's an interesting article about Prince. It's also concerned with Prince's views on women and their role in the family, and in society in general--especialy after TRC.

http://www.citypages.com/...le9709.asp

P.S. This article is not mine, nor does it represent any of my views. I surf a lot, and found it. For those who already know of this, just skip it.

Funny, it represents most of my views. The problem is, I just love the music too much.

$$$You got a point, despite the fact I'm somewhat CONTRIDICTING myself. But please don't hold it against me. I hate being labeled a HYPOCRITE!

"As far as Alan Leeds is concerned, Prince ought to take that trademark plea to heart. "As a songwriter, Prince will forever be able to write a hit song," says Leeds. "He's brilliant--way more brilliant than people will ever know, because of the mask, the imagery he is so obsessed with. If the guy would just stop caring what people think. If he would just put on a sweater and blue jeans, go on a theater tour without a band, sit at a piano, and just play. Man. It would triple his fan base. It would blow people away."

Interestingly enough it seems Prince took Alan Leed's advice and went on 2 the ONA tour... smile

This is the best article I've ever read about Prince. I didn't know all of this stuff. Isn't Alan still on good terms with him? Or did they part as foes. I think that Warner's should definitely give him back his Masters. If he wants to be free from them then it's his perogative. If he doesn't want certain reporters, well it's his house and his Rules. If he doesn't want women wearing certain clothes at his concert or whatever well then say Black Tie event . Or tell us what to wear. Prince's house . Prince's Rules. He's the Boss listen! No more questions! He's paying your salary? You listen. At his concerts . He's gonna sing how he wants ,about what he wants. He's the Artist. He creates His Music . Not you. He is truly the Best! Why change him? I know I love all of the older music and I love the old styles, but now I realize that that's just not him anymore. He has changed and if he is not comfortable or just doesn't want that then we should support his decisions if we are TRULY Fans. I see nothing wrong with Praying with Larry in a Limo and I see nothing wrong with Traditional Family Values. Sounds like Prince is a Good Man. Definitely sounds that way. Maybe Old Fashioned, So what ! Nothing's wrong with Old Fashioned. If we are Reading something else into this we are wrong. I totally love Prince and think he is Truly the Sexiest Man Alive. His MUSIC Is Wonderful!!!

I agree with you Vagina. I think that it's Prince;s life and he should just get to live it already without people freaking out and saying "I wish he would just go back to the old days" I don't agree with women and men having particular roles, but so what? that is Prince's belief, not mine. I think that people blow this stuff out of proportion about his religion. like that reporter who wanted to throw away her old prince albums because he had more vconvential beliefs. just get over it already.

Thanks, I enjoyed the article.
It's good to get other's points of views.

Prince is still a musical genius.
For that I am thankful.

you know what? I have been agreeing with you and you with me lately. You are somebody who is intelligent. There are some intellectuals on this Forum. These reporters aren't fans to begin with. They will never really get him. I will have to educate them forever. So help me God. And Fans will you stop and I know I am surely not the one to say this ,but I will. Don't leave Prince or get overly upset or disillusioned with him like if you give him a cd or don't get as close as you want. Geez I really am my own Psychiatrist and yours. Well, What is and what will never be. you can't push Him. It's HIS Choice! You can't Force Love and you Can't just throw something at him. Use some Damn Tact! how would you feel if you were a Celebrity? You would be Cautious Too? Please the fan with the Cd in Washington. I wasn't there but what I read when Prince asked you to remove the CD from the stage ? Why didn't you do just that? You gotta listen. He wasn't gonna change his mind. Nobody should make something more complicated than it should be. Performers are under So-much Stress . Please TRY to Understand and Respect them! Peace to everybody. Can I educate You All?

Reading a lot of this stuff reminded me of the tone in which Purple Reign: The Artist Formerly Known As Prince was written, but it only went up to the release of Emancipation. It was an interesting read.

It does to some extent reflect my opinions. I like his music so much, that sometimes I just bite my lip on let him say what he wants to say, even when I completely disagree with it.

this was my favorite line:

"Prince probably has the largest cult audience out there, outside of maybe Madonna or Bruce Springsteen. He can live on the fan base--and he is living on it," says Steve Perry, former editor of City Pages, who wrote extensively about Prince in the late Eighties and early Nineties..."

Upon reading this article again I realize that this woman is having a problem with Prince could it be she is Gay? She is saying Gender-Bending rules and she is unhappy he is Traditional. Straight and believes in Man and Woman relationships not MAN-Man, or FEMALE to FEMALE? I think I see a trend of who is dissing Prince now Gays! Why ??? He's not about Lesbians and Gays. He's Religious and the Jehovah's would say it's an Abomination. He's gonna keep Preaching family values and I hope Larry is there with Tina forever. They are EXCELLENT Role Models!

So every fan out there that is Gay if you are picking on Prince for some stupid reason ,you are acting Predujice. I have nothing against you guys and girls some of my best friends are Gay. But If this is why you are picking on him ,you are Biased and your comments or views are not necessarily the same as Straights.

"Las Vegas. That's where the Artist Formerly Known as the Artist seems destined to play out the twilight of his career. Two shows a night on a thrust stage at Bally's or the MGM, posturing in front of plush purple curtains, flanked by the most beautiful girls in the world, grinding through greatest-hits medley after greatest-hits medley. "Party people beware!" the glossy program will read (just $25 with your second cocktail). "When this Sexy M.F. takes you down to Alphabet St. in his Little Red Corvette, you might feel the need to Gett Off!"
An exaggeration, U say? "

Yes, eye say...

Too funny reading this after the ONA tour.
