I don't think it's possible anymore to say he prefers one race of woman over another. For one thing, only he knows which women he has romances with and which women he has working relationships with.

I have noticed quite a bit of arrogance from Latinas posting in here because of the belief that Prince has a preference for Latinas. I think if you take a minute to look behind the surface, you will see that more of his women have been African-American or partly AA than Latin. The women Prince dated before he married Mani, Ananda Lewis and Desray, are black.

From what I hear about Manuela Testolini, she's mostly Italian but does have some African heritage. She may be about 7/8 Italian and 1/8 black. I think its just a myth and rumor that Prince doesn't like the women of his own race.

Why is it so important to some of you people what color these women are? It is not your choice and really none of your bussiness, you are not the ones that have to live with the choices he makes. As for wishing he would get involved with more AA women, is that really so important to you? What does it accomplish? I've never broken it done by time period before, but he seems to go through phases and prefers a particular flava over others.

In the late 70s, when he was just starting his career and before he became famous, he was interested in brown skinned women like Chaka Khan and Patrice Rushen.

Then as he started to get famous in the early 80s, his dates became more exotic or mixed race such as Vanity. At the height of his Purple Rain fame in the mid 80s and up until about 1989, his preference was for white women. The 80s is when he dated Madonna, Susannah Melvoin, Kim Basinger, Susanna Hoffs, and a couple of other white actresses/singers were linked to him at that time.

For most of the early to mid 90s, his women were brunette whites or Hispanic. The one exception to this was Nona Gaye.

In the late 90s up til today, his taste has turned again to "exotic" or mixed race women.

Both of Prince's parents are black. You can see them on the first page of the emancipation booklet. Also Prince's dad John L.Nelson told ebony magazine in 1986 that Prince was not any more mixed then most blacks in America.
