Looks more like The Beatles during their Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club era, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Since the video seems to be moving forward in time, 50's Elvis, 60's Beatles, Hendrix or Cream makes sense to come up right before P-funk.

ive seen this video a few times now, and i think ive figured it out!
Its a parody of musical fashions through the ages, or mayb a tribute sorta thing to the great bands that have been and gone. Sumthin like that so it wouldnt suprise me if its P. im not 2 sure if that specific one if meant 2 be the beatles, Hendrix or P cause they also start off with like a black and white part which also could b the beatles. So who knows, i wish i knew Fruscie or sumthin so i could ask him.....and have a jam wid him! Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. I think it is supposed to be Hendrix, but the first time I saw it, I did think of Prince. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

This is by far one of my fav Peppers videos. The director did a great job with this and the editing is awesome. When keidis is shown at Kurt Kobain I nearly fell outa my chair. Its a great tribute and Flea is my bass idol. Love it. Cant wait for the new cd

it is a pretty cool film clip, they drag it on a bit with the solos i think, but other than that its ok, not their best but good on em i spose.

Here's a little article about the video:
The video for Stadium Arcadium's first single, "Dani California," debuted on MTV last week and depicts the Peppers as various bands who've left their stamp on rock and roll throughout the ages — from Elvis Presley and the Beatles to the Misfits and Nirvana. "We chose the moments in history we wanted to honor," Kiedis said. The shoot was conducted over two 13-hour days and involved "lots of spirit gum and wigs and funny fabrics and skull rings and turquoise belts." "The video was [director] Tony Kaye's idea, but we were a little bit more informed to the history of rock than anyone else that was working on it. So it was our duty to figure out which points we wanted to illuminate, which was difficult, because there were at least 10 other incredibly meaningful, exciting, beautiful and important points that we couldn't hit because time and cash become a factor when you're shooting a video." "We had to leave out hip-hop and disco, the big mega rock bands like the Who, [Led] Zeppelin," added Flea; the mod and ska movements and early '60s Brit rock were other periods the band had hoped to include but couldn't find time for. "We did the best we could. We love rock music so much, and it's so sacred to us, we just wanted to honor it and bow before it and take our hats off to it. We would never f--- with the sacredness of rock music."
