I was curious, because many Prince fans seem to come from this lot, because they don't really know how good Prince is, because they believe the hype from the press and stuff.

I liked Prince at one time, but learned to hate him...

I fell in love with Prince's first photo
when I was in the 10th grade. Then I saw him on t.v. singing IWBYL and went and decided I really couldn't stand him.
It wasn't until Private Joy that he pulled me back in and by the time 1999 came round I was totally digging his sound. Purple Rain is what took me over the edge and I've been a loyal, dedicated listener since.

Well, since I was 11/12 years old anyways.
Didn't know much about him before that.

I was scared some of Prince at first when I thought he was gay man, but when I found out he was hetero man I grow to love him deep. I am so glad now to have Prince.

I didn't hate him, but I didn't like him much either, because when I was a kid I liked heavy Metal, like a lot of kids back then. Actually, I had a bias against black music, thought it was too wimpy, until I woke up and saw Purple Rain, but not being a huge fan until around Sign O The Times, which really woke me up to how great he was. I think I know what you are saying HenrikLarshole, and it's not offensive to me, if that makes you feel any better. When I saw a picture of Prince when browsing the music stores in the early 80s, I was pretty sure I wouldn't like the little fella's music. The album 1999 proved me wrong.
