I also phoned radio 2 and complained. The woman said she did not know what would be done, but as we all know NOTHING.If i was the lady who got that silly soapstone question wrong i would expect to be put in the competition. If it's alright for him then it should be ok for her.
i just hope that on friday when you have the play offs that they ask questions that real prince fans know and not some total idiots wild guess

I think it IS fair to say that someone who is a Prince obsessive and has bought everything Prince has done WOULD be a more just winner of this competition than someone who is not that into Prince... That's only logical, surely? Too many times they make these questions so easy that anyone, rather than any level of fan, can win them. I mean, even on this competition you've got a 50-50 chance of winning even if you've never heard of Prince.

As for those people ringing up 50 times... Does that actually improve your chances of winning? I would think the names and numbers are entered into some sort of database, once you've given your details once they would be unlikely to add it a dozen more times...

I assumed that the assistants on the show are randomly picking the phone numbers to call back. Oh and by the way (I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet) during the last five minutes of yesterday's show Chris Evans announced that they had got the GlamSlam/Red Corvette question wrong. He apologised and gave himself a slap on the wrist explaining that the guy who answered would not, in fact, be going through to Friday's final and he would have to try again today like the rest of us.

So that means only one person from Tuesday and one person from Wednedsay are in the final on Friday (when it should have been 2 from each day).

Without any cock-ups on tonight's show there should be 4 people in the Friday final.

I'm from the UK and would enter this competition in a heartbeat but its so unfair that the competition is in May as we've got our finals for university starting then! Argh.

BTW to clarify - there are 2 questions per evening - 1 at 5.20 and 1 at 6.20. Winners go through to some form of knockout competition on Fridays show where there will be 1 ulitmate winner.

I would have thought this competition would have been ALL OVER radio2. Instead it's like "Hey, this is the first week of the new Chris Evans show and we're running a cool competition to see some bloke called Prince, but we're not really bothered about it".

Anyone else remember the time when Chris Evans was on the breakfast show (cant remember whether it was R1 or Virgin) and he threw his toys out of the pram because he thought he had an exclusive interview with Prince in the USA only to find out it was just part of a wider press thing.

Can't even remember what that would have been about now - TGE?

The first head to head pair were not very good at guessing the cryptic Prince song titles and they both got booted. That meant the guy who won the second head to head fairly and squarely got straight into Friday's final.

[I'm sure Chris Evans said at one point that the winner of each head to head would then compete for a place in the Friday final - although that "play-off" idea seems to have been scrapped now]

It was Radio 1 and I think it was around 1996/1997 time (possibly the whole Emancipation bit) they were going to do an radio/TV/live performance or interview at Paisley and combine it with The Breakfast Show and TFI Friday on Channel 4. I remember Chris Evans recounting the whole story on air about how Prince's people were calling him back one evening, saying Prince is about to call you etc. Then it all fell through and he was fuming about Prince's "yes men" and his ego etc.

Many thanks for your email. In hour 1 we asked the contestant Tom Hall the question "In the movie 'Graffiti Bridge', two musicians battle for which nightclub?". Tom gave the answer 'Red Corvette'. We told him he was right, but unfortunately we got it wrong. The answer was 'Glam Slam'.

It was our mistake and we apologise profusely. Tom won't be going through to the final on Friday, but he will get the chance to play again tomorrow.
