BLUE NOTE PLAYS PRINCE At last I got hold of my copy, a timely release to coincide with other Prince activity.
It is pretty cool, and I have to say, the interpretation of the tracks by the legendary Blue NOte artist Bob Felden is a real honour to Prince. Dorothy Parker is stunning, and the vocal arrangement for A Question of U superb. The re-work of When Doves Cry makes this tune really melancholy, a very apt interpretation. "Kiss is phat", "1999" is phat, Purple Rain is really niceand the version of Venus de Milo take sit to a different level.I am reserving judgement on Electric Chair though - although it lends a great deal of homage to later Miles Davis works, i,e Amandla and Tutu. Overall a very satisfying slice of jazz meets Prince, and no doubt this gave Prnce much inspiration for his own leanings in the late 90's towards jazzier styles - seeing as the recordings were originally 1993. My personal wish list of alternative jazz version of this kind would have to be Sign O The Times, Under the Cherry Moon and of course, Gett Off! Anyone else heard it and wish to share thoughts / musings? Peace and be wild.

Where did you get this? Is it an official release?
I knew the album existed but in previous months all I got told was that it was only available in Japan. Has it come out elsewhere now? And who are all the performers? Glad you liked it, can't wait for my copy.
