Cast recordings of the I'll do anything sound track?

Check out what I found after a google group search. Somebody claims to have a I'll do anything cast recording of the Prince songs. Has anyone else heard this? Nick Nolte singing I'll do anything, tracy Ullman singing don't talk 2 strangers and James L. Brooks singing make believe and there is lonley.

You've googled up newsgroup threads from a.m.p. in 1998 and an earlier one from r.a.m. in 1994.

I think there's at least one cast recording that circulates, lthough I'm not sure how widely.

What the test screening attendee reports is a sentiment that was widely-shared by those that fed back on the original and resulted in the musical format of the film being shelved.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Michael Bs comments on the aborted soundtrack from the thread in the Associated Artists forum:

some of the material on "the vault" was recorded for the soundtrack to a movie called "i'll do anything", starring julie kavner and nick nolte, if i'm not mistaken.. songs like "i'll do anything", obviously, "when the lights go down".. also songs like "don't talk to strangers", and "she spoke to me"..
the producers told prince that the cast was gonna sing the songs in the movie.. he says, "what? the woman that plays the voice of marge simpson is gonna be singing my music.. no, she's not.." and pulled his work from the film.. so, the material was just laying around until "the vault" came out..

hmmm I always assumed that it was the filmakers who decided not to use Prince's music. They previewed the film for test audiences, and the musical performances fell flat. They re-tooled the film and removed the songs.I don't know if Prince really had a problem with folks singing his songs.

Is there a song called Obviously? I've never seen it listed on any track listing for I'll do anything. Has anyone heard it.
