Michael B. and Sonny T. and their involvement in "3121" the song.

Has no one made mention that these two are credited with bass and drums on the title track?

I mentioned it to my friend Ern (who happens to frequent AMP - something I gave up a long time ago) and he didn't even notice their credits.

Is "3121" just an old track with revamped lyrics?

It's possible, considering T had said that "Cybersingle" was an old track with new lyrics and additions. And we all know how often Prince digs in his vaults for a song or two to add to impending albums (he has done this nearly EVERY SINGLE TIME he has recorded an album).

Thoughts?

Michael B has said that he and Sonny T did a session at Paisley Park and recorded their part for 3121 last year. So it doesn't seem like it an old vault track, though the retro sound continues to make people believe that.

I'd expect Prince oto dig tracks or even just song parts out of the vault and revamps them for new releases, but strangely enough I've never heard a song or part of a song that comes from any of the many bootlegs circulatin (not including Crystal Ball).

Actually, I don't think he really said that they recorded that last year but that they've been to Paisley Park to jam a couple of times. This could of course be from those jams, but I don't think he's made it a 100% clear that it has been recorded last year.

This was what he said before the album came out; I think he's saying it was from the last recording session, but you could interpret it differently I guess:

sonny and i have not received any formal request or inquiry about joining prince for anything, other than an occasional recording session.. and that hasn't happened since last october.. i only presume that one of the songs we recorded will be on the album, 'cause i think we played on the title track, "3121"..

Whatever, it's the best track on the album and we need more like it. It reminds me of the 94/95 great era when Prince's funk was untouchable.

I remember reading a report here last year at the org of someone meeting Sonny and Michael at an airport on the way to LA. Saying they were meeting up with Prince for a recording session as I remember. Does anyone remember this or know the post??
