Prince was Punk = Sexuality

*Ask the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Angry Samoans, etc. if "Sexuality" was punk. Decidedly not.

Prince was Rock = Lets Go Crazy

*Pop/rock, yep.

Prince was Electronic = Something In The Water/Automatic

*Those tracks were minimalist funk, not electronic music of the time... see Kraftwerk for electronic music of the time.

Prince was Funk = Erotic City

*Damned straight! That was FUNK!

Prince was Soul = Adore

*Yep... and damned good, too!

Prince was Hip Hop = Sexy Mf

*Nope... not hip-hop... just had a shitty rapper. Prince has NEVER successfully produced a hip-hop track, luckily.

Prince was Blues = 5 Women

*Pretty good blues... pretty good. It's not Robert Johnson, but it will pass for modern blues.

Prince was Country = Holy River

*Not country at all...

Prince was Classical = 3 Chains O'Gold

*Very, VERY far from classical. If anything, it could be called "prog," but even that is wrong.

Prince was Pop = Kiss

*Pretty pop, but pretty damned funk too.

Prince was Techno = Loose

*He tried, but it was shitty. In my opinion.

Prince was House = Human Body

*See "Loose"

Prince was Jazz = Dreaming about U

*The term "jazz" is thrown around FAR too loosely.

Prince was Easy Listening = Soul Santuary

*Once again... not easy listening. You will NEVER hear this on easy listening radio. Check out Ray Coniff or Montovani and his orchestra... hell, Percy Faith.

Prince was Alternative = Endorphinmachine

*Not alternative either... just a rock song.

Prince was Reggae = Rippopgodazipa

*Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Steel Pulse would not agree... Blue Light was closer, but still not reggae.

Prince was Big Band = Courtin Time

*ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NOT big band. Have you ever listened to Woody Herman, Glenn Miller or any other REAL big band???

What Else Is Prince 2 B?

*My OPINIONS are denoted by the asterisk

Never saw "Sexuality" as punk...

Prince was Hip Hop = Sexy Mf

Never saw "Sexy MF" as Hip Hop...

Prince was Country = Holy River

Never saw "Holy River" as country...

Prince was Classical = 3 Chains O'Gold

Never saw "3 Chains O' Gold" as classical...

Prince was Jazz = Dreaming about U

Use the extended version of "She Spoke 2 Me" or "When The Lights Go Down" instead...even though they aren't really jazz either...

Prince was Alternative = Endorphinmachine

"I Like It There" or "The Cross", maybe...

Actually, for the majority of his career, Prince was simply pop, pure and simple...but he did incorporate certain characteristics from an amazing array of musical styles into his pop...far more than maybe any other pop artist ever has..

You forgot gospel or insprational: God, Elephants & Flowers, Thunder, One of Us, The Ladder, The Cross (Christ).

I don't really think Holy River fall in the country category.

Prince has done a lot of styles. I am a hiphop and reggae fan ,as far as i can say, he touched both styles but did not succeed.
Maybe prince in a mix can be house but without he is certainly not. Techno is really something different.
Prince uses electronical stuff ,but kind of crossover, princestyle. Not always succesfull i think .

Prince was Country = Holy River

Country?? Not so.

Prince was Pop = Kiss

Moderate Funk.

Prince was Jazz = Dreaming about U

Methinks Prince fans need to listen to more REAL Jazz.

What Else Is Prince 2 B?

Wait and see.
