I talk to cbabi from time to time. He's going to be the featured artist at next year's Street Painting Festival that I'm pretty involved in.

Last I asked, he can't sell prints of it anymore. Prince commisioned the work and owns the rights too it, I suppose. You could buy the print from NPGMC for a while after the album came out but I don't think it's up there anymore.

I got mine while it was still available.

He's a really cool guy and very nice husband and father. We ended up talking about our kids more than business last few times we've spoken.

I need to get these two to put next to the reign keis quartet.

I just ordered a Prince print from his website. The price says 0.00 and shipping was $12. I'll see what happens.

That's a pretty harsh statement. They both seem to dig black urban music themes as far as I can see.

I see Bua leaning more tward Hip-Hop while cbabi leans more tward jazz and family. As far as the exaggerated limbs and faces in their subjects, they both remind me of Ernie Barnes!

Cbabi (pronounced Kuh-bob-bi) Bayoc is an artist who has always known, and lived, his calling: creating art which reflects his love of music and family. This was in fact the reason he changed his name in 1997 from Clifford Miskell to Cbabi Bayoc. He wanted a name that when said always sent him a reminder of his purpose in life. Cbabi stands for Creative Black Artist Battling Ignorance and Bayoc (which he waited for his wife to discover) stands for Blessed African Youth of Creativity. Cbabi wanted to have a last name that included the attributes of the wife he was going to bear children with because the last name, he felt, should reflect both parents and not just the father.

In 1995, Bayoc received his Bachelors in Arts from Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. Since that time, he has been fortunate enough to more than make a living as an artist; he has wedged himself into the class of artists who receive accolades and acclaim for their work. With his paint brush, pencil and pen, Bayoc has created a career for himself.

After a summer stint as a caricature artist at Six Flags, Bayoc mastered the style enough to have monthly illustrations in Rap Pages magazine. Various musicians have used Bayocs caricature work on album covers and in music videos. Along with his caricatures, his illustration work has been commissioned by Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, and SIDS Resource.

Keeping a sketch book and pencil in tow wherever he goes, Bayoc recreates life as he sees it daily. His paintings and reproductions are in galleries across the country and in homes throughout the world.

Here's a really cool article: http://www.stltoday.com/s...enDocument

Is this the piece that used to be in the Cosby Show? Maybe it wasn't that show, but I think it was in some show from the 80s or before. Not trying to offend anybody, but I remember it from somewhere. Definitely similar to the Rainbow Children stuff, but not a copy.

No. Much earlier than that. The show was called "Good Times" The oldest son, "J.J." (DYNOMITE! ,his catch phrase) was an aspiring young artist that lived in the ghetto. His paintings used on the show were of artist Ernie Barnes. The above painting was used in the credits.

Artist Brenda Joysmith was used more on "The Cosby Show". Although some of Ernie's work was on there as well. I think.
