I keep hearing people say "weak song writing" in response to so many of Prince's albums. Tell me why, that the truth features "weak song writing." Third Eye, Circle of Amore, and Man in a Uniform features some of Prince's BEST EVER song writing. People bash Prince for conventional music and then bash him for something different. You really paint him into a corner.

I dig The Truth but it has extreme highs and extreme lows for me. I LOVE Don't Play Me, Dionne, and Fascination (my favorite from the disc). But one of the worst songs I've ever heard from him is on it. Animal Kingdom, lawd have mercy! I can't listen to this song without cracking up because I can't stand it so much. People talk about Prince and the vocoder on Incense and Candles but that vocal effect on AK annoys the shit outta me along with the Dolphins croaking in the background. Yikes! That said, I'll still pick it up from time to time.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
