What is it about Prince? Just Curious. I've been a fan since "For You." I was attracted to the music first, but the more I got into it I discovered a diamond in the rough and wanted more. Was it the sexual content? Was it a kind of taboo? It was definitely something I could NOT share with my parents. In the beginning, I was kind embarassed to admit to anyone that I liked Prince's music. I'm curious to know (young/new (espicially) and old fans) what is the attraction and will it continue?

Yeah, to be honest, it would probably be the sexual content of the music that drew me to the music. I guess it's embarrassing to admit you like Prince, because if they've (the people you are admitting to) had some experience listening to Prince, they might think you're a sexual freak. I'm in my 30s now, and I have second thoughts introducing my younger nephew and neice to Prince, sure maybe Musicology and 3121 are ok for them to listen to, but what if they start liking him and go out and purchase a copy of Dirty Mind? That's just weird to think about. I like those old albums, but I don't know if I'd like my niece listening to them. You guys know what I mean? Or am I just being silly?

it's just good tunes. it all starts with good songs.
the fact that we're all complaining about his new cd and yet hang on just goes to show how good his stuff actually was in his prime. the songs are still cool and his albums, are mostly better than all the other pop stuff out there. however, for alternative, "different" music i don't turn to prince anymore. he'll always keep my interest though, that's 4 sure. you just know that on any of his albums there will b a few songs that will become lifetime favorites. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I was definitely intrigued, as an 11-year-old, by a guy who would dare to go as far as he did with Dirty Mind... and I hadn't even heard anything at that point! Only read about it.
Controversy was the first album I bought. The sexual-spiritual mix blew my mind.

I negelcted to say, I was very young when "For You" was released. I was into Parliament/Funkadelic, Sly, Stevie Wonder, Slave, Ohio Players, etc...
Anyone could have cut "Soft & Wet" and it would have been one for the music history books. Prince unlike anyone.

His music & his image. I dug how different his music was to everyone else's and I was 4-5 years old. Plus, any man who would walk around in high heels is definitely a unique individual and that just added to the fascination for me. His boldness to be who he was and still is is quite something to see. I don't think I'll ever stop being interested in Prince because he's still unpredictable. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
