Step into the shoes of the man named Prince

Now i know this is a Prince board...mixed with all different types of peeps...some of u think ur the mans soulmate...some of u think ur actually Prince himself...some are collectors of his music and think he is one of the musics best...some just think hes cute...and some just like to provoke for whatever resaon u may have...

All these types are mixed into the post board, flying out to the celebration, attending his concerts in various places etc..

Now, put ur self in Princes shoes for a few mins.
You are faced with all these different types of people, personalities, issues.

I would not want someone cryin in my face...yelling and screaming in my face, touchin me, gawking at me, trying to take my identity (lookin like me) tryin to steal from me...hell I wouldnt blame Prince if he just blurts out one day..."STOP Lookin at me..."dont ducking touch me!!!"
and..."Shut the DUCK UP!!"

Prince is just a person like you and I...the only difference is he can sing better, play better, dance better then You and I ...and he looks better then you.

Hes not always right, he has different likes and dislikes, he has opiniouns and values...just like everyone else does.

when he says or does one thing, then a few years down the road changes his mind on that past opinioun, it doesnt make him a hipocriate...how many of us have changed our views while growing up?

Its called growing and learning from your experiences.

If he Chooses not to eat meat one year...then its his choice, dont feel the need to think YOU must not eat meat.
If he liked the movie minority report, then dont feel like YOU HAVE to like it as well...when you found out that he left the movie early, dont feel the need to now say, "I didnt like the movie afterall"...You people r trippin!!!

and WHY r so many people so freakin concerned about what type religion, spiritual beliefs the man has...so much concerned that it makes some of you rant and rave of what HE should believe in???
Each and every one of you have your own lives, own opiniouns, own beliefs...LIVE it, grow from it, be YOU.
dont be so concerned of what Prince is doing...be concerned of what YOU are doin...Live your own life, THATS your experience...Prince is living his, thats HIS experience.

If I were Prince in a VIP room lookin out ...I would NOT want those crying out my name to b in the room with me...I would not want someone who was tryin to Look like me in the room with me...Y the hell would I want that???
I would want the ones, who treated me like a person, the ones who dont gawk but who enjoys themselves...thats who I would want around me.

yea hes famous and yes that type of fanatical behavoir comes with fame I guess, but that doesnt mean he should except it, or want to b around it.
so calm down people, stop actin like fools...get in touch with your own lives and enjoy Prince as a part of YOUR life...not vise versa.

When your at a concert, instead of standin still gawking, and pushin n shovein and complainin trying to get as close as possible...try relaxin, enjoy the music, dance to his music, You will have a much better time.

enjoy YOUR life.
peace heart

Made some good points in there.

Although I doubt I can forgive Prince of filing law suits and having...what was it? 50'000 fan sites closed? UnFuckingBelievable...

I think every1 can comprehend that Prince gets very sick of harassment and erratic behaviour by his fans, I doubt any1 can put up with it all the time.

But then again U cant blame the fan...

Its quite normal 2 act that way with sum1 who has had a profound effect on your life and U hugely admire...U want, almost need 2 get nearer 2 them.

Prince is just a person like you and I...the only difference is he can sing better, play better, dance better then You and I ...and he looks better then you.

That made me a whole lot better...sad

It would have been even better if the author would have mentioned that Prince is shorter than me as well.

Pluv, I agree with you almost 100%.
Except, When he signed that record contract, he signed on for that kind of life of people gawking at him, etc.
He gets paid well for it.

I think he would be a little disappointed if people stopped being excited over him.

The only reason I'm concerned about him being JW is maybe the people that are a big influence in his life now will move him further away from the music and the fans.

I also think he is being lead down the wrong path.

But than, is any of this our business? No.

I agree w/ Lovebird. Prince should have known and expected this when he wanted 2 enter the mainstream music field. I don't care how talented Prince is, he wouldn't be where he is 2day if it wasn't 4 us - his fans. I think he owes us a little something. I've come 2 notice that as big and as popular as Prince is, he has a pretty well respected group of fans and all we really ask 4 is the music.

well, kinda but not really...if music is your love, and one makes music cuz they love to do it...and it catches on, that doesnt mean that they want the crazies that wanna gawk n grab at ya...Prince had alot of controversal music as everyone here knows...he didnt just put out what was popular at that time, he put out what he wanted to put out...he doesnt do things for the "fans"...he does things for him.
I like that.
just like during the 1999 new year thing...he coulda made boocoo $$...everyone wanted him to perform that song for the year 1999...
but he didnt want to... so he didnt.
if he was tryin to play the fan thing, then he woulda done it...the man just wants to play HIS music HIS way, regardless if its popular or not...hes not tryin to play the fan base rockstar idol...Go on P do ur thang.
granted, I probablly bought that purple prowler for him, and joe n mo bought paisley park for him...but its our choice to put the man on our payroll...Prince dont owe no one nothing...
peace heart

Yea, I'm sure he does enjoy the frenzy he causes on some level. But I wonder - when wandering through a Paisley Park crowd & getting poked in the ass - if he ever feels like just an object? Maybe, maybe not, but I think there are times when people could be a little more respectful of him as a human being.

There are times when people could treat him like a regular person, despite the awe & admiration. Does he always want the trappings that go along w/ being Prince, or does he sometimes want to just be?

What more do you feel he owes us?

Of course he does... I've chosen to let the aging process flow without human intervention. Grey hair? Let it grow. Wrinkles? I don't have much of that, thanks to my baby fat that somehow never melt away. Clothes? I hate shopping and nearly got kicked out of the gay community for it.

Besides, if Prince tried on MY shoes, he'd probably want his heels back right away, mistah.

I understand this thread and it is quite a positive and good one too. But if i only wanted to see asskissing i would not join this independent site. This independent site is truly a nice invention ,if i may do a little asskissing myself.
Sorry i can't be 100% positivity ,i had to reply to so much prince perfection.

Nice 2 know I'm not the only one with common sense & respect enough 2 let Prince B Prince. Without picking at his personal life, and the things he does within it.

Well expressed, I'm feelin that & maybe this thread can serve as a wake up call 2 those who still feel they know the man better then he knows himself...

4 me its about the music & his live shows...and whatever else he feels fit 2 share. Some of the so call Prince fans ala fanatics who go as far as hate on eachother at his shows by way of being hog minded pushy or straight up rude really need 2 shake themselfs.

Prince don't dig on all that drama from greedy fans or people in general who act like adopted family with a Purple "act a fool" pass hangin around there neck. Wheres the love in all that? The message is simple, as is what he wants from us as supporters. But we as human beings far from perfect, and not always understanding, we re-define everything 2 fit our needs and personal egos. Not thinking about if its hurting others.

I'll never kiss his ass or B down with (all) of his insightful messages 4 the sake of tryin 2 B like a Godly Purple Saint or a blind funk follower... But for heaven sake's let the man live and do as he wants. He does truly deserve that as we (all) do. He don't owe me a damn thing cause I'm content with all the music & magic he's given me since "78".

Prince is indeed just a mere man. But he's found his calling & path with music. And from there his spirit amazingly translates his many passions & feelings through his singing song writing performing & musicianship etc... But overall its about having simple "respect" 4 others personal freedoms & personal life journeys.

So 2 step in his shoes is not needed. I have common sense as well as a much bigger shoe size..wink
