Why do people say W & L wrote 'Mountains'?

I know parade was a revolution album but i thought it was clear Prince wouldn't sing a song written by a women?

They did the instrumental maybe? Or co-wrote?

Well, for one, it's listed that way at ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) -- and note that it's Lisa first, then Wendy, and finally Prince. <-- That's very rare for any Prince performed composition.

Mountains was originally a W&L composition, not only that but so was Sometimes It Snows In April:

Yes, they are listed in alphabetical order. Though in this case, all 3 songs were original W&L compositions.

Where did you get that he would never sing a song written by a woman? Already been there, done that with Sandra St Victor's "Soul Sanctuary", just to mention one.
