Thunder i can only listen to now and then, But Live 4 Love is the tune music, there is alot of people who love that song, and sounds better live, The diamonds & pearls tour in ozzy was amazing when he performed "L4L" wink

Not too wild about either of those songs.
Can't decide which is worse.

I love both songs.
L4L is the better.
Probably the best tracks off D and P.

I mean... 'Diamonds & Pearls', along with 'The Gold Experience', isn't really my bag, but "Thunder" CRUSHES "Live 4 Love".

2 each his/her own, I know.

Peace.

I odnt like D&P overlal that much either but having to have it as part of my purple life..L4L is kinda noice. Thunder is just so overblown and forced sounding. So is L4L but Thunder is just too much going on trying to be grand.

I think I would have liked "Thunder" a lot more had it been a b-side or outtake. But as the lead track of an album? I think it's a bit disappointing. I do not, however, care for "Live 4 Love." I never have. Not sure why. That said, it's one of the best songs on D&P.

"Thunder" is a riff off of the flavor of "When doves Cry"

Thunder is Pop at it's finest, Live 4 Love is on a whole other, better level. It's an awesome track with brilliant production.

I could be very happy without Tony M on L4L. It would definitely get more airplay in my world.

I like both. I prefer L4L, I wish he´d incorporate that into his setlist again.

Can´t understand why people here hate D%P so much , if it wasn´t for the rapping and Tony M I´d say it´s a fantastic album with a very uplifting and positive vibe.
Strollin is cool, Insatiable is a classic, Money Don´t Matter is great, really good songwriting on this album and it felt very fresh and contemporary when it came out...and yet most of the material still sounds great today.

Live 4 Love has a great storyline and a deep message, and I really love the liveversion, the guitar and bass and everything...classic NPG stuff.I also like the alternate version of it, which sounds a bit slower.

THUNDER - I always thought he said, "Yolita, take me too!". I was bummed to find it was truly a hanging prepostion or Yoda-ish sentence.

I prefer Live For Love.

I can't recall the last time I listened to either song. Or D & P at all...

I cannot stress enough how much I despise "Live 4 Love". I think it's a poor excuse for a song and was only included for its hippie 'message'. It's also got Tony M. on it. neutral

I like "Thunder" because it sticks out in the Prince canon like "Thieves in the Temple". Those two are so different from the rest of his catalogue(and each other). I don't love "Thunder", but I do like it. "Live 4 Love" will get no love from me.

I love over half of the songs on D&P, but it's very difficult for me to enjoy the whole thing through for the reasons you mentioned. I think it's undisputedly a good singles album, but some of the album tracks are just joyless.

I liked "Thunder" when it came out, but just listened to it recently and god, that is some plastic. Made me realize what some people here are criticizing about Prince's multitracked vocals. Far, far too tinny and slick for me. One of the reasons I maintain I like 3121 more than D&P.

I kind of enjoy "Live 4 Love," definitely more than "Thunder." Not sure how well it is aging.

The guitar work on Live 4 Love is awesome, especially at the end.

"Thunder" is catchier, has more of an identity than "Live 4 Love," which has no personality whatsoever. It's an anonymous, flavourless tune. Like someone who says and does all the right things. Boring.

Overall the Diamonds & Pearls era was the beginning of the confused and lost Prince, the messageless Prince, the rich rock star condemning money phase of his career.

Man, that video for "Money Don't Matter 2Night" is unbelievable. Prince is there all dolled up in his black fishnet blouse, his band looking all fabulous and shit, and he's singing about how he don't need no money. Head-shaking hypocrisy.

Thunder is a great opening track and live4love is an excellent ending track on
an otherwise,uneven lackluster CD.

I don't really care for Thunder, or the album version of L4L for much, for that matter.

I do like that early boot version of L4L a lot tho!

I like both the tracks a lot , and yes D & P is a gem of an album , the 1st half especially is a solid run of excellent tracks , I love every second from Thunder thru to Gett Off , and most of the 2nd half floats my boat too .
