Diamonds and Pearls : Alexa De Paris

I just noticed that these are kind of vaguely similar in production and mix... never noticed that before.

its like the same genre of this fairytale music with dramatic guitar leadlines, reverbed out soundscapes of drum fills, and airy synths in a ballad style. Very epic and big in a cheesy way... yet reaching very beautiful moments.

Okay, goddamnit, they both sound like ice skating music. razz

I agree that especially "Diamonds and Pearls" sounds very majestic. I think it's the horns.

It certainly sounds like Sheila is on percussion on "Alexa De Paris" (my favourite Prince track) but I suspect Bobby Z is in there somewhere too, along with the rest of the Revolution.

According to The Vault, it was recorded at the Washington AVenue warehouse, I think that is where the Revolution used to rehearse too? So it might be a band-thing. It does mention that Shiela E. 'plays a brief drum solo' so she's definately in the mix.

so... "Alexa De Paris" is more cool than "Come On"? No WAY!

By the way, I love Prince because he is unabashedly cheesy, like "3 Chains of Gold", I like Alexa De Paris. But it's still ice skating music!
