"Noon Rendezvous" rehearsal is one of Prince's most gorgeous moments God, I can't get enough of this one. And I love hearing Prince sing the lead vocals to songs he gave to other artists.
His vocals, the synths, Wendy & Lisa's background vocals, the INSANE guitar solos near the middle and end are almost too much. It's so beautiful it hurts, really. But I have one complaint. It seems the only version around these days is one that cuts off at 14 minutes. The one I came to know and love as a young teenager was a full 18 minutes, but I've only ever heard it on a sketchy vinyl copy of "A Noon Rendezvous with Prince". What I wouldn't give to hear a clear, full version of this song.

I listen to it on a regular basis, especially during breakfast...and I love the simplicity of that rehearsal session, like the drumbeats, either from BobbyZ or the Linn or both. I´ve got the 14 minute version but I don´t think it´s been edited, at least it doesn´t sound like it. Are you sure the 18 minute version is from this same rehearsal ? It´s obvious that Erotic City is edited, because there´s a cut when he says " All The Critics...." . They normally played a snippet of that song inbetween. But Noon Rendezvous sounds complete, in my opinion. This is really a must-have rehearsal....especially because of Noon Rendezvous and Something In The Water ( incredible 13 minutes something version).. it in my tons and tons of cdr stuff I´m almost a 100% sure that you have this boot. It´s a must-have, fundamental bootleg, and , from reading most of your posts around here, I´m pretty sure you have this one....it´s called "Neon Rendezvous " (note the E instead of an O) and there are at least two versions of it, one with a pic from the Nude tour ( Prince wearing a white sweatshirt) and one with a pic from the Purple Rain era. The on with the Nude tour has the Climax bassline as some sort of bonus. If you don´t know this boot, go and get it somewhere....it´s killer. Pretty much like the socalled "Warehouse rehearsal " where they rehearsed Our Destiny and All Day , All Night.....same era, same style, similar arrangements, great sound. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I had the old vinyl with it on there and a mix tape from some shady Detroit record store with a bunch of different stuff on it, including that. Both were pretty dire sound quality, and I've never seen anything with the full version since. The "Purple Rush" series of bootlegs look wonderful, but I'm not sure how long the version is on there. The "Something in the Water" rehearsal is another highlight. It might be the best version of that song.

i might have this...i'm thinking i don't, but then again it might be somewhere buried among one of my compilation boots or someplace.

I have 2 say I also love this track, and I can listen 2 the entire 18-minute piece without thinking it's 18 minutes. And the funny thing is, my copy is actually slowed down on my tape - the song is in F#, but my copy sounds like it's in F - and I'm so used 2 listening 2 it that way, that playing it on the correct speed sounds weird 2 me... Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

One of my favorite tracks and guitar solos. Despite the band mistakes working through the changes. I used to wake up to that tune as my alarm clock in the morning.

I´m confused now....is the 18 minute version the real deal, or is it just that long because it´s a slowed down version of the 14 minute version ? I have the 14 minute version , and it absolutely doesn´t sound as if it´s been edited....it´s the full version , as far as I´m concerned. Are we talking about two entirely different rehearsals here ? ????? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

So if the 14 minute version is on Purple Rush...WHAT's the 18 minute version on?
Could it be the cassette version was edited down to fit on Purple Rush? Sometimes they take out sections that arent essential.

The whole thing sounded less than great, but at least consistent throughout.
