Today I went into a music store in Branson, Mo. I live 2 hours away from Branson, but I thought...hey, this music store is in an outlet mall, and maybe, just maybe, this small music store may have put out some Ultimate Prince cd sets by mistake or whatever.

So I went in and looked around...all they had was like 2 copies of "3121" and like 2 copies of "Purple Rain" and a nice young salesman walked up to me and said, "Can I help you find something?"

Well, first I said "No", but then I've heard a few stories around here about sales people going to the back and grabbing people a copy of "Ultimate" or stories about Tower Records selling them or them being sold as an import and so on and so forth. So I thought I would give it a shot and I said, "Hey, do you know anything about that "Ultimate Prince?"

And the sales guy said, "Well, there was some reason they held it back...we
were supposed to receive it, but then there was a reason they cancelled the order for them." To which I said, "Yeah, I heard about that, but I also heard that a few stores were selling it." To which he said, "Well, let me go ask my manager up here at the register. He is a REAL BIG PRINCE FAN."

Before I had a chance to say anything, the sales guy led me to the front register..(like I said, its a small store) and then he asked his manager to explain the Ultimate Prince situation. The manager(the self proclaimed big Prince fan) said, "oh yeah, Ultimate Prince was cancelled because basically Prince didn't want it released and it was something to do with some disagreement between Prince and Rhino Records."

Then I said, "Oh, ok, I see. I was just checking because I had heard that some stores, like Tower Records had a few in stock and were selling them." To which he quickly responded, in a somewhat higher-than-thou manner, "NO, nobody got Ultimate Prince. No stores got them. I SHOULD KNOW...I'm a BIG Prince fan!"
I guess he set me straight huh? LOL I'm not saying the guy isn't a big Prince fan, but it was the way he was saying it, like I didn't know what I was talking about, and that he was an authority on it that ticked me off!

I kept my cool and just said, "ok...I see....thank you." And I just walked away steaming a tad. But then, I just had to laugh it off.!

clearly he doesnt know wat his talking about then. every music store in Canberra (australia) has copies of it!

maybe he just believed the word his bosses told him. maybe he doesn't follow prince.org.

for the most part, it wasn't released. how would some guy in bumblefuck, mo know about a few virgin records chains selling it?

I met a (not really close) friend of mine that day I bought my copy of 3121. He ask'd me what I got and I told him.

His reaction was quit funny. "Ah, Prince has made a new album. I he renamed to Prince again?" I said yes. "Oh, so he changed back from his name "Silver"!" ?????

I told him that he has never had "Silver" as name....

"Oh,yes he was named "Silver" , I'm very sure... you know. I really love him for years... "
Ok, ok, so far so good.

Then he told me, that he didn't know that Prince has made a new album.
"He has made a new one, cool... got to buy it, the last one was preety cool though."
Ok, I agreed, that "Musicology" is a nice one.

He said:
"Musicology?" I thought it was "Rave un2....?"

I think there are a lot of self proclaimed "Prince fans" out there.

P.S. "3121" is ranked #4 on German Charts. And its the highest new entry last week.

This reminds me when I went to FNAC asking if they had 3121. The guy who was there said he was a big Prince. I asked him if they had the black album (I usually ask this as a trial question to find the posers)! He replied:;

"We don't have that metallica album!"

Note 2 : am the bigger Prince fan.
