Kind of unfair to compare the two when one is the full version and one is part of a medley. The drums IMO are better at the Brits, there's more punch with Sheila adding her flavor to the mix.

This performance will always be known in the Prince world where the planets lined up again and put Prince on stage again with Wendy and Lisa. Damn it sure was worth the wait too!!! cool
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

U got that wrong actually.

Only thing the SNL version has on the Brit version is the fact that it is longer and the way that his effect peddle at the end ot the performance kept on with that flanger airy sound that was cool but it is in no way superior.

SNL version is overated, it is great but he looks better at the Brits, the band is better(sheila W&L morris, the dancers and married couple were excellent) there is a 2nd guitarist playing with him (and what a 2nd guitarist) and it has more impact and velocity cuz he was performing 2 Earls Court (europes biggest indoor arena) 2 London and the World!

Love Prince on the Hohner, love him on a strat but gimme the Hohner everytime.

This was one of Prince's GREATEST TELEVISION PERFORMANCES up there with Purple Rain at the 1985 AMA's The 1987 MTV video music awards, and 1994's European Music awards.

Enjoy AMERICA and THE WORLD!

opinions are subjective rolleyes wink
anyhoo this isn't about prince's american vs prince british performance so stop stirring up unnecessary beef.
i didn't care if the snl episode was taken place in brazil. prince kicked arse on snl. that performance was breathtaking and also it reminded me of how hellava of a good guitar player Prince is and yet his skills are so underrated in the general public. when I saw Prince performed Fury, it hitted me hard like it one of the most incredible things I ever seen by a musician in a longtime. i was practically speechless. even non-fans were blow away with that performance. but how many had said the same thing about the brits version? I even read many posts by people from your own country saying they liked snl better. If the snl version was taken in uk many people would say the same, so the location and time is irrelevent.

I didnt feel the same moment when I watched the Fury performance on the Brits. but it was nice to see prince perform with old friends again but they didn't really add anything new, although Sheila was outstanding and had to do some rescuing with Cora's offbeat drumming. Still I didn't felt the same excitement. I was like 'Oh this just another Prince performance with his backup band.' and fans and non-fans are still talking about Snl. plain and simple. The reason why I am going to watch it again it is because for a better viewing purposes.
aiight? lol

Look making this a british versus american performance thang is completely ridiculous I explained myself same way u just did...ure wrong about snl being better tho.

And were u not the one that said opinions are subjective?

Any way that Brits performance crucifies all other Prince performances on tv 4 a good long while even the great snl performance, closest thing to its greatness was Prince on Tavis Smiley with Wendy.

Yes it is great but Prince has played the guitar far better than that so its not quite unbeatable.

what in the hell you mean that Im wrong? So according to your logic, my opinion about Prince's Brits peformance is wrong? Yet you have no problem of saying that your opinion about the Brits is right? your arrogance are so full of it, dude.
And when I said "You got that right" earlier on, I meant was I agreed with the poster who said Prince's Fury at the Brits wasn't nearly as good as the one he did on SNL. No offense to my UK brothers and sistas, but some of you Brits need to learn a thing or two from Americanized idioms before jumping to conclusions. biggrin
And also if you didn't intend turning this into USA vs UK issue then my bad (well in proper English I misread) but according to your last post it seem like you was.

Who's getting upset here? You can't determined my feelings based on words.
Also you sure you know all about American Idioms and slang?

Over here in the States dude usually means a male. If you going to call a female one they wouldn't like that at all but luckily I am in a cheery mood so I'll let you slide.
Anyhoo well according many peopple fancy SNL version and that has nothing to do with the USA vs UK thing. You can sit here and proclaiming Brits Awards superior all you want to but SNL version is still talk about among fans and non-fans alike all over the world. And besides the SNL happened to be IMHO, one of his most memorable and brilliant performance of his career. The Brits is very memorable don't get me wrong because of his performance with Sheila E., Lisa, and them and I do dig it, never said I didn't but at the same time, I wasn't mood by it like I was when I seen SNL one.
So now wot?razz
