One of my favorite Prince albums. Needs more credit. It's very underated. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

So that means I've been a fan for 28 years now.

When do those masters revert back to him? Wasn't it 30 years or something?

Still one of his best albums! "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

How come "My Love Is Forever" isn't listed as one of his better early tunes? I just love this song.

Great ALBUM. My 1st PRINCE album was "Controversy" in '81...ever since then it's I've been addicted to the music. "Tiki Coladas"

I find it amazing listening to the title track now... if I had been around back then as a fan, I'd sure get a little teary-eyed now. I mean he basically said to you, "hey, we're gonna spend a life together".

Me too. It's a real driving-in-a-convertible-on-a-sunny-day song.

"All of this and more is for you
With love, sincerity and deepest care, my life with you I share" I love this album. I've only just got it again on CD and it seems like years since I listened to it. It way too under-rated !! Shut up already, damn.

I think it's fairly rated. Really, it's nothing special. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I only listen to Soft and Wet from that album.i think it has it's own special charm which make it special but more in a little way than in a big BLOCKBUSTER way. Prince's voice often sounds drowned out, but he sounds so young and fresh. The music too is really interesting and there's loads of twists and turns in it. It sounds really experimental in it's own way. A bit of 70's funk here, a bit of Joni Mitchel there. It's just rich and flavourful but NOT in a kick you-in-the-face way. I was reading the cover notes and ALL the different types of instruments that Prince is playing. If you listen carefully you think 'Oh yeah, I can hear those finga cymals and wind chimes !' It's just great. Really eclectic and full of suprises. I just have this picture in my head of Prince sitting in the studio with all these musical instruments around him. And he's sitting there really concentrating. Also it has an unpretentious and natural feel about it. You don't feel like it's a man who's hungry for pop stardom. But more like a man who WANTS to make music. It's gentle and it's unassuming. The kind of music that you would put on in the background and letting it flow over you. I think it's one that you really need to LISTEN too. Which is what music is about afterall. Shut up already, damn.

I love it so much, it is so naive and lovely.
He was young and hardly had hairs on his weener. His simple, Stevie Wonder cliques almost seem groundbreaking now. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I believe that even though this was a debut album for Prince, it was pretty impressive. I mean, he is playing all of the instruments, producing all of the material, and arranging everything himself. The single thing that kills this album is its production. The production is too dated and a little glossy or as I should say disco-y. Some of the ballads are kind of syrupy too! But on the plus side, it has a lot of energy and it displays the early developments of the Purple Genius. My favorite cut off of this gem would have to be In Love!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY FOR YOU! Check me out and add me on:

ALL I can say to all of you is listen to it again.
Give it ONE more chance. Yep it's definately dated. But it's pure Prince. It sounds like he is getting a sense of who he is. [Edited 4/10/06 7:22am] Shut up already, damn.
