According to the entertainment reporter on NewsTalk1010 CFRB in Toronto, negotiations have fallen through on Prince's appearance on American Idol. Apparently he didn't want to meet with the performers and spend the week coaching them, etc.

Oh well... so much for that!

I'm glad.That show is garbage and I know that Prince hates it too.

Let me be the first to say "WHEW!"

I'm happy to see Prince sticking to his guns and not doing this shit to sell a few more records.

I can't believer the producers for American Idol. If someone as elusive as Prince was willing to perform on my show, I'd let him. A true performer with true stage presence. I'm sorry but, you can't really find that anywhere else nowadays. Take what you can get.

i actually have mixed emotions bout it ... while i agree it would probably feel like a "sell out" ... on some levels ... i think if Prince did it ... in a different way ... or they allowed him to do it in some different way .... it would possibly be decent ... i dont like the show too much--- the only weeks i watch it are when the pinheads are on (the ones that think they can sing but .... cannot--- those are worth it !!!) ....

the show is so popular .... one cannot argue from the point of "album sales, etc" it would be a good maneuver for anyone to do ... i am NOT a fan of any of the former performers .... kelly clarkson , bo bice , clay .... MOST of the songs by them on the radio are mere rubbish !!! ugh ... i heard that bo song the other night driving home and ugh ... it is so bad !!! ....

She was supposed to coach them but she never showed up. With someone like Prince, why would you need him to coach anyone? They should have been happy just to even talk to the dude and that he showed ANY kind of interest in being on the show. I betcha if it was someone else, i.e. Madonna or Michael Jackson, they'd let them fools on without coaching anyone. I'm finally starting to realize that Prince doesn't need AI (though I wouldn't be mad if he went on). What he needs is Oprah.

well --- i always thought the "coaching thing " --- if he DID do it ... would be handled more by Londell, Sheila E or wendy&lisa, Tamar, etc ... with Prince just standing there and kidding around .... --- hell, make it a REAL party and have george clinton there too !!!
