Prince On Rock Radio. Prince fuses all types o genres of music. His main this is R&B,Funk,and Rock.
Prince has presence on R&B,Urban,and Pop stations. SInce he is a semi-rock artist does he get any play n any rock stations? Working up a purple sweat. | |

Occasionally, you'll hear "Raspberry Beret" on a pop station, or an contemporary oldies-mix format station.
I used to fret over his apparent exclusion from rock format stations or from the rock section of most music stores. But, aside from his pop releases from the mid-1980s, Prince seems to be an R&B/soul artist with rock leanings. | |

That's my point. I don't think that's entirely accurate. I used to, but I don't anymore, given the majority of his output. But, maybe such labels are antiquated and perpetuate the wrong type of thinking about music. Humans love to categorize,though, don't we?  | |

WXRT in Chicago, which seems to be the only real, quality rock station left in Chicago (meaning that they're not beholden to singles and what's popular), has a number of Prince songs in regular rotation.
In particular, they were pretty fond of "Get On the Boat" when 3121 first came out. On a fairly regular basis, you'll here stuff from Sign of the Times. Most frequently I hear "Controversy." The thing is, XRT is known for embrasing an eclectic range of music and recognizes all of the various facets of what makes up "rock." Most stations are far more niche, making it tough, I suppose, to fit Prince in. Long live XRT! Keith/Kacey | |
