Why I appreciate Prince

I am finally completing my collection of released work. I notice that I can put a different Prince CD in my car stereo every day, and hear something totally different. Lovesexy is very cerebral and spiritual. Purple Rain is quintessential pop, Rainbow children is jazzy, the 1990's sound more like hip/hop,1999 funk... etc.

Even if you prefer the funk over rock or whatever; just appreciate that he is capable of creating such different music. Most artist, you know their sound, and every CD sounds alike (same type of genre). (Bee Gees, Madonna, Springstein, Janet Jackson, the Gap Band are a great examples of this).
I am hearing some old (new to me) Prince CD's and realize that unless someone told me it was Prince, I would never know it was him.
Incense and Candles is the latest example. I recognize his voice, but that is really not his sound. Yet, it works. It sounds good.

I feel the same. I do like 3121, but I was hoping for something different; maybe a rock orchestra or something stupid like that.

I was asked this at the pittsburgh lovesexy show by a news reporter.

I said that he does so many different styles it keeps me interested.

Lady I was with said that Prince makes her hot like no other.

What I appreciate the most about prince, is each album has a very unique and specific feel to it, yet each song brings something tottaly different to the table.

I appreciate how he's constantly working. Can't accuse the man of being lazy.

He's earned every bit of his legendary status.

Where others would give a half-hearted effort, playing it safe and cynically aiming for the charts, Prince stuck to his muse, his artistry.

And when his records failed commercially, he would furiously make up for it with a grueling tour.

I respect and admire the man's work ethic. Not many have that kind of dedication.

Yes!!
because he works so hard doing these grueling tours and gives EVERY show a stellar performance (even the smaller cities like my hometown, Toledo,OH back in the day) makes me want to support his more off the beaten path efforts like NEWS, and TRC.
I guess that is why I really want 3121 to be a hit so that he can take a breather. reflect and get into himself for the next direction Music is taking him (and us).
