What? Heard a Prince song playing in a store? Umm, yeah, that's not exactly a rare phenomena.

I heard Black Sweat playing in the a/v department at Target the other day. I don't think it was the full song, just a snippet, but it still made me stop in my tracks to listen for a minute.

Walking through the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas I heard "Musicology" at a juice bar down the Studio Walk...then I heard "Little Red Corvette" near the escalator that goes down 2 the pool. Quite a memorable experience. lol

lol... Just happened to me today.

I was in class, and we were listening to the radio. The Word came on and I thought that it sounded familiar... took a while for me to recognize it. As soon as I recognized it, this girl changed the station. That's the second time something like that has happened at school... >.<

I always love those moments. biggrin

I was at the mall with a couple of my guy friends last weekend and we walked by like...I think it was Kay Jewlers and Black Sweat was BLASTING so we stopped and did a lil' dance...we attracted a small crowd, haha.

Oh, and when I was at Maxie's in NYC bitching and moaning about the share charge and my 3 pound meat sandwich I noticed Musicology playing...they actually played the whole album while I was there. I guess someone got lazy with the cd player, lol.

There's something so sci-fi about this thread. I know that you guys are not being sarcastic...at least I don't think so. So why is it a big thing to hear a Prince song playing somewhere? It's not uncommon. Sure, it's a good thing but it feels like you're all talking about spotting UFO's.

sun This happened to me yesterday, I took my 10yr old son to Fuddruckers for a burger and shake...while we were eating, RASPBERRY BERET came on. I didn't notice it at first cause I was getting my eat on ya know...but my son recognized it immediately and yelled out, "Hey Mom, that's one of your songs...the raspberry one!" I looked at him and smiled and asked him, "Who's singing that song?" He just looked at me all serious and said, "It's Prince." I thought it was a cool moment. lol He knows Prince from the womb...and his b-day is JUNE 7. lol He loves 3121, especially LOVE and GET ON THE BOAT.

Sometimes they play Prince songs in the supermarket nearby...maybe I should ask some people working there...and myself, why I buy more things I need then...

Before christmas I heard 'Another lonely christmas' over the stereo of a clothes shop loudly out of the streets (germish)

And this is germany

That was great

I was beyond depressed, had been for a while and whilst cleaning out my car ready to scrap it, I found a blank tape and popped it in the stereo. It was The Cross, right on the words, 'don't cry he is coming,'

I was spooked out for the whole day.
But i did feel better.

I'm in the UK and it is rare to hear Prince anywhere. One time I went to PC World and as I stepped through the door Purple Rain started, that was nice.

Last night I was playing with my little boy and a familiar sound errupted from the TV. It was the start of U Got The Look! I looked up expecting to see something about Prince, but no. It was an advert for some new show with Chantelle Houghton. Chantelle bleeding Houghton, I ask you! Does Prince know his music is being used to advertise such rubbish?
RIP sad

Considering how not long ago, Prince's songs weren't played at all...IT IS QUITE AN OTHERWOLDLY EXPERIENCE to be at Borders or some other place, and unexpectedly hear a Prince song and feel elated or whatever else.

Yes, WendyRachel it just happened to me last friday afternoon at the college I attend here in South Florida. As I came out of the cafeteria, I heard "When Doves Cry" in the newly opened Starbucks (I think there is some sort of business partnership between Prince or WB and Starbucks. Before this Starbucks opened no one played Prince songs at my school). So I hanged in there pretending to be reading some announcements that are affixed to the walls of the Breezeway. Then, just before I turn to the left to go to the library, the man that sells used CDs was playing "Incense and Candles" Funny thing, I started tapping the bottle cap of a Starbucks Frapuccino and this girl started staring in my direction (I thought to myself,"Am I making a fool of myself?," and "Is she also impressed by the song or what?"). eek
