well now i have had time to digest the album, i believe this is a good prince album..superior to musicology in almost all ways..i tired of muicology very quickly but although i dont play 3121 all the time...i find myself still enjoying it when i do.....i feel it is 3 tracks short of being a killer album...i would have taken out blb, the dance(doesnt work 4 me) and incest and candles...not that they are bad tracks...just a bit weak...nothing as bad as life o the party here.....

i would say its his best effort since the gold experience in 1995...i would have loved to have heard him expand on the title tracks freaky funk which is a great prince track 4 me but its his best album in 10 years so i am happy with that....pity about 'fury' having its balls cut off but thats prince 4 u...writes a great rock song then records it sitting on the loo???

i agree with almost everything ya guys say ... i do think this album is more listenable than musicology (which i only listened to ICPC and maybe the title track a couple times)

i personally NOW realize that Prince really needs another producer to really fire his lil ass up ! (and remove some filler ) even tho if he works for 2-3 years he is capable of making a good album (like 3121) ...

because of the premise i thought for this album was "it was inspired by all the LIVE PARTIES at 3121---- i thought it would have more of a killer LIVE feel to it .... (which only "3121" and "get on the boat" have... maybe FURY ... etc too ) but now i truly believe that it has more of a spiritual message/feel to it ... which is ok to me also

I still love the album...
But i also liked musicology ( )

Prince should have left out blb or he should recorded it with live instruments...
All the other tracks are great...
And satisfied is a song i would not want to miss...
3121 is, as a opener, perhaps to slow and monotonous
But overall a fantastic album...

still think this is one of his best albums to date. it's classic. elements of ALl his styles on it.

Funny how everyone thinks Fury "had it's balls cut off," when in actuality Prince simply made it better for SNL.

BLB is my main problem with 3121. All this momentum is building towards The Dance, but the flow is ruined by BLB (which isn't a bad song on its own). He needed a really hot song there instead.

Any other criticizm I have is kinda nitpicky. All in all, it sounds more like Prince than Prince has in a long time, and it's way more melodic, catchy, & sounds less forced than Musicology.
