Between my wife and I we belong to several "celeberty" type messageboards.

Prince seems to be the only one that is computer saviee, in other words he is here, while remaining hidden. In other words, all the other celeberties messageboards we attend, if the celeberty is into computing, they are themselfs' on the messageboard. They interact. So why is Prince so nonaround?

I have been told he was "hurt" by people in the past over the computer. However, he to me has more excuses then he has creditable thoughts in his head.

For one, Prince believes his music should do the talking. He does interviews for promotional purposes, but I don't think he ever means to reveal much about himself in them. And essentially an online Q&A is an interview. Plus there are lots of crazed fans out there... and on here...

There are so many celebrities who try to maintain their fame simply by being around and seen all the time rather than any skill, and revealing everything about their thoughts and lifestyle they quickly become boring.

Prince has always maintained a mystique about himself that actually makes people crave for more info - always leave 'em wanting more, as the saying goes.

Just because someone here asked him a question, doesn't mean he would be obligated to answer it. Unless of course his balls were the size of sweet peas.

Because unlike some artists, Prince has got his head stuck so far up his own arse, fan interaction on this level would be unheard of.

The only forum Prince would like would be one he can manipulate, rather than allow free speech.

Just like the NPGMC!

One thing I have found, is that cyber culture is loyal to their own and dislikes with a pasition "outside forces" "real worlders" that think they can manipulate cyber culture to their own selfish desires.

Hes a shy man, always has been always will be. I don't think he really cares too much about what his fans think of him.

Personally, I would only look into comments concerning my work. A bit of criticism never hurt anybody and sometimes helps. A satisfied compliment (comment) is always welcome and a good thing to read. All the other stuff shouldn't and probably don't matter. At least it wouldn't to me

1. You have no way of knowing what Prince does or does not do when he's on his computer. For all you know, he could be up in here posting as Zelaria as we speak, just to see our reactions.

2. The beauty of the internet is it's ability to provide the user with anonymity.

3. If Prince were to suddenly reveal himself on this message board, housequake, or NPGMC, no one would believe him anyway.

4. If it was a planned event, it still wouldn't work because everybody and their momma would be trying to get in at the same time...servers would choke, folks would be all pissy about how long it took them to log in, like Prince was purposely not trying to let them in. It would just get real ugly, real quick.

Don't get me wrong. I WOULD LOVE FOR PRINCE TO HANG WITH US FANS IN CYBERSPACE, but realistically unless it was seriously regulated, it would just be a big ol' mess with Prince getting the blame.

I think it's wise for him to stay hidden. He could get to know someone for real (as far as the internet goes) where as Prince, he could not. He'd be bombarded constantly. It would never cease. Ever been to paisley park mick? Prince is stared at incessantly. You think, well, maybe it's cause he just came in the room....but no, 4 hours later there's still a large group of people just staring at him. So, I guess I can only try to understand his perspective, and respect his decision.

Courtney Love posts at her message board frequently...they are hard to read and understand sometimes...she tends to jump from one subject to the next sometimes in the same sentance! But it's nothing less than entertaining for sure...actually her posts really kinda remind me of Zelaria's!

But anyway...maybe Prince just has a protective personality and would much rather observe than express his thoughts on a message board.
