I think I recall something like that about 3-4 years back. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

He did a couple shows at Studio 54 (MGM Grand Vegas) in 1999. I went one night, but it was mostly The Time. The next night is when Prince did a full set. I guess I picked the wrong night. Anyway, it was a good, intimate setting and a fun party.

1, The Rave Un2 The Year 2000 vid was pre-recorded earlier in December over 2 nights and shown as Pay Per View on New Year's Eve.
2. The most famous New Year's Eve show is probably at the end of 1987 at Paisley Park - a benefit concert for paying guests ... with Prince performing 'Auld Lang Syne' ( or what he knew of the the words) and Miles making a brief appearance. . . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I was there. And the Rave shows, while not exactly at New Year's was close enough for me. I was there too. They were AWESOME by the way. "Funk is it's own reward....."

The Rave show is so misunderstood by those that weren't there. While i agree the DVD version of it leaves a lot to be desired, to have been there is an experience that i wouldn't trade for anything. It was truely a special time to be in the Park. Bear in mind that it was a two night video shoot (although P's performance came strictly from night 2) and that there was probably a total of 7 or 8 hours of his performances from those 2 days. Sadly, it was cut so much, that it doesn't even come close to doing it justice. (Same thing goes for the Live at the Alladin show/DVD which I was there for as well.)
