I am convinced that 99.9 percent of the people who come to the org appreciate prince. they might not be as fanatic as you are but they admire this artist. however, like every other artist, prince has produced not only milestones of music but a lot of trash as well. go buy the "work" studio outtakes bootleg and then judge. about 50 percent of the songs are plain bullshit. you know there is a difference between admiring an artist and unconditionally surrendering your individuality to just that artist. not everything prince does or says is good. after all he is human.
I dont share your and prince's point that music shouldnt be critized. constructive criticizm is good and necessary. do you wanna live in a country where its illegal to criticize those who are in power? well, to a certain extend, since 9/11, you do. however, I know prince dislikes journalists. but at the same time he gets his general information by the media.
its my right to share my views on prince, whether they are good or bad. one's opinion should just be fair. to say prince is an asshole doesnt help me. to say prince is an asshole because he beats up his wife is something I would think about given that the information came from a reliable sorce.
after all many of you take this way too seriously. prince is just somebody playing beautiful music which makes many people happy. but thats about it. get a life.

btw: name me one musician who plays music that ALWAYS suits the listener. James Brown did amazing stuff, but he recorded crap as well. same with miles davis and many others. I still love them. the only cat who comes close to musical perfection in my eyes was john coltrane. I couldnt think of any weak recording. his music was extremely well overthought, no weak moments to be found. same counts for his personal attributes after he truly found himself. he was a man anybody should look up to. because he was a true HUMAN who could play like a GOD. prince still is very far from that point. he's on the right track, but he still seems very lost.
