your DREAM SETLIST! I know there've been a million of these, hopefully none are active right now
I was just listening to Come On & realized I've never heard that one live (that I can remember) & I like it A LOT. So do it, abandon that "stop giving me your wishing list" line Pick 25 songs (don't know if that's too much or too little for a P show, lol) that would make up your dream setlist. I know some of you bitches will do it in sequence & break it down into which is full & which is medley I don't have all that, this is just the stuff that would kill me & make my panny drawz all wet @ the show Come On Mountains Hot Thing Love Calhoun Square Beautiful Strange Black Sweat The Word The Truth Head Baby Violet the Organ Grinder Joy in Rep Irresistable Bitch The Marrying Kind/If I Was The Man In U're Life U're Gonna C Me Anotherloverholeinyohead It's Gonna Be Lonely Rockhard In a Funky Place 17 Days Power Fantastic When the Lights Go Down The Ride The Love We Make My Love Is Forever DAMN, it's nice to have so much to choose from And don't come on here talking about how he wouldn't sing this b/c he's a JW & he wouldn't sing that b/c it's not a hit Fuck all that - you're in charge of Princey for one night What'cha wanna hear? oops26edit [Edited 4/4/06 1:17am]

Calhoun's set list looks VERY good! I can go with that. I was there at the Fillmore in 2001 when Prince and company performed "Come On" -- and I never loved that song so much as I did that night!! It definitely made me a believer that it's one of Prince's funkiest tunes ever!

Prince steps up to the microphone, coughs lightly, and says "Y'all keep on bitchin' about what I should and shouldn't play. Well, y'all asked for it".
He then nods to the band and launches into 'For You'. Several weeks later he winds up 'Get on the boat' with a monumental 3 hour guitar solo, whispers hoarsely 'I think we're done here' and collapses amid tumultuous applause. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Thank you So wait, what show was this @ the Fillmore? I wonder if I was there It was the Sheila E. reunion show -- Rosie Gaines too. Started with a long version of "Daisy Chain" and one of the first live performances of "Paisley Park" in a long time. He ended with "Come On" and came back with an "Alphabet St." encore. Remember? Maybe you took off on an out-of-body experience during that unbelievable Santana-medley or was it during the guitar solo on "Joy in Repetition"??

Above was my dream setlist...and here's my nightmare setlist..well, not a nightmare, but what I would EXPECT Prince to play
Take Me With U Raspberry Beret(Like who would EVER expect Prince to play these two songs!) The Ride Purple Rain(even on ONA Tour when he made fun of Purple Rain fans, he still played it.) Kiss Lolita Black Sweat Te Amo Corazon Beautiful Loved And Blessed Fury Get On The Boat Let's Go Crazy(with 8 saxaphone specialists flown in from over the world, since the musicology tour proved this song was made for the sax.) Life O The Party Well, not exactly a nightmare set list, but you know he'll play 70 % of this list at least once on the tour. My dream Setlist might as well stay a dream, cuz he just could never play such a show. Still think he's the best in the business by far, but I can complain and be sarcastic

I think I know the club you're talking about -- he performed there earlier in the year, or maybe at the end of 2000. I forget the name of that place. I missed that show. But I definitely remember the show at the Fillmore in 2001 (April, I think) -- a week or so before his two-day Leno appearance. He performed "Come On" that night -- sorry you missed it. I wouldn't mind if he played it again -- it's very funky, especially live. [Edited 4/5/06 19:58pm]
