I made my own "Best of " a few years ago. I tried to stick to singles and/or songs that at least got some radio play (rather than my personal favorites).

Oh no, not again. You know, because there was so much dross from these years and very few were official hits,the newbies are always going to pick up the least likely tracks to qualify as "the best of " - and it makes those years seem worse than they actually were.

Okay, so who's gonna be the first to put "The Freaks On This Side", "Everyday Is A Winding Road" and "Betcha By Golly Wow!" on their lists?

I'm no newbie...I've been listening CLOSELY since 1981, and I LOVE "Every Day is a Winding Road" AND "Betcha"!

I don't think you can pull individual songs out of the albums of the "Symbol" years and not get the feeling that Prince kinda went downhill in that period. Those songs work better within the fabric of their albums, but can't quantify a "Best of" to me.

He was 0(+> on the last NPG album and Tora Tora on the previous.

Where does Beautiful Strange come from, I don't think I'm familar with that one?

Just remembered he made a special video for the Mustang Mix for top of the pops for the Mustang Mix version of TMBGITW from the Beautiful Experience EP which got to No. 18 in the UK so perhaps the Mustang Mix should also be included at the expense of Baby Knows.

On second thoughts there's no need for two versions of the same track and there's enough good 0(+> stuff without having to include the NPG tracks and that leaves us room for one extra track too.

Umm, be nice! Not all Best Of's are completely chock full of hits. In fact, very few Best Of compilations are all charts hits. Are you looking at just Britney Spears albums or something?? Look at how many bands have released best of's. Perhaps 3 or 4 songs on such albums have been hits, the rest are just what's deemed an artists best work. Do your homework before you criticise.

I think a "Best of " would b great.. I mean Why not? I'm so tired of these Best of Albums whit Prince songs form 78-92 that Wb is releasing all the time. Prince made manny great songs betwen 93-99.
