I've been listening to his music since "For You" was released. Took a break in the mid 80's and came back in the late 90's. Had a lot of catching up to do.

I have been a fan since 1984. My uncle gave my brother the Purple rain album for his birthday, and I ended up playing this record over and over again.

I'll admit it... the first Prince record that I bought was "1999." I was about 13 years old or so... SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

Alright...don't scold me, but when i saw him sing Little Red Corvette on Solid Gold--he was lip sync'd the song.
I liked 1999, but didn't catch on until a friend would play the whole 1999 tape while we played B-ball. I didn't know who it was until i saw the Solid Gold show. I took a break after Parade came out--and have been following his moves ever since SOTT

I love the way, every time this question comes up, people who are like 24 years old claim to have been a fan since Dirty Mind! Yeahrrright!
I'm 25 now. I was first aware of Prince during the Purple Rain days, I liked the album and the title track but wasn't a huge fan. As a kid, frankly, I thought Prince looked like a freak and he scared me. Around SoTT and Lovesexy days though I got into those albums and went back and bought all the back catalogue ... and I was hooked!

Billy?
I have been listening to Prince since 1978. Took a break for about 6 years and resumed my interest. He was getting better and better and cuter and cuter. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

My mom and dad had "For You" when it was released and so I heard it quite often in our house. It always struck me as funny that one minute it was Tammy Wynette playing, the next it was Dr. John, then Prince. lol I guess Prince was the only thing they could agree on...musically.

Ever since 1999, but it was Purple Rain that got me into finding as much stuff about the guy as possible.

my first awareness of prince was in 1981, in a laundromat in madrid (an time magazine, international edition, review of "dirty mind")
a couple of years later, i bought "controversy."

God I love that avi. Damn now I got to go pull out the movie. As for the subject at hand.. My first true love in high school gave me a tape with Purple Rain on it. But SOTT is what brought me in for the long run. Of course the fact that I find sexy as hell doesn't hurt any. Lots of love to you all.

I've been a fan since 1978 before the release of For You when "Right On!" Mag would ALWAYS have articles on him and pics of him and yet no one knew who he was. Cynthia Horner, the editor at the time and I think she still is the editor , loved Prince.
My Prince first concert was the 1999 tour with Prince, The Time and Vanity 6. I was 12. (Wanted to see him on the Dirty Mind tour but my momma was like "hell no!!!" I was too young.)

Well, I am 24 now and I have been a big fan ever since Dirty Mind came out.
I lived underground at the time and I was simply following the underground music trend.

but there's always something between Prince's music and me. Maybe it could be the first impression I had from him as I saw a 1. foto from him. It was a one similar as the one in 'Controvery'. My girlfriend did show it to me, she's a big fam, I did only know his music, I loved to dance to it. I was a bit chocked! He's sooo sexy, it tooks me for a moment my breath away and I did look as: Not for me! I had a bit a strange mean to sexuality, did desire to be eunuch this time, to do have no sex. I hated SEX! I've been listening to Prince since 1982. My first recollection of seeing him was on Solid Gold. His look, his style and his music sucked me in and I've been listening ever since. I have to admit, I drifted away a little in the 90's. I continued to buy his music, but it didn't move me at the time. As you all know, some of his music grows on you... or you have to connect to it at a certain point in your life to truely appreciate it. The fist few times you hear it, it just doesn't click, but the more you listen ,the more it starts to make sense.
Could one interpret that as brainwashing

Growing up I always admired Prince and his music, but then
I got into rap music. Now in my early twenties I shifted more towards R&B music. What really made get into Prince was hearing Mariah Carey's cover of The Beautiful Ones. Then I heard Alicia'a HCUDCM, then I saw a promo on T.V. 4 The Rainbow Children, then I watched BET's premiere of Purple Rain which made me go out and buy TRC.I've been a true fan 4 7 months now and I'm proud I discovered Prince's music. My name is BISCUIT...and I am funky!
