Why isn't he doing Ellen? Oprah? Tonight Show?

I would have expected Prince to be hitting TV bigtime considering his album just went #1. Where the hell is he?

cause he's stupid. well, i wont go that far but something tells me that he's going to do promotion for the tour. just my theory but whatever his plan is, he needs to get his ass out there at some point and promote this cd.

After 17 years since Prince's last #1 (let's be honest that was because of the Batman hype), this Prince fan can say----Who the Fuck cares?

When 3121 was about to be released I bitched and moaned about lack of TV appearances, but now the album has hit #1. For Prince fans that hung with him during the prince years that is almost amazing. For me, the album can fall off the charts and it will still be an impressive feather in Prince's cap.

Now, I do want him to be on TV to promote a tour---if only to see him tour and see him on the TV tearin' it up per usual.

rumor is, the tour will be announced this month. i was thinking he was gonna wait until the day tamar's album came out, so the announcement would grab her some more publicity.

you know i'm tired of him doing all this promotion for Tamar. she's very good, no doubt but imho, it's getting tired.

I have a theory - if there really is trouble between him and Mani (and no one really knows at this point) he'd hardly want to be put on the spot and asked about his marriage on these interview shows, which often bypass asking musical questions and go straight for the tabloidy gossip stuff.

I think the interviewers and talk show hosts are briefed on topics which they're NOT allowed to bring up when interviewing Prince. I've heard this has been the case with magazine interviews, I'm sure it's the same for TV.

True but some interviewers try to slip it in anyway.

I'm sure they prefer certain questions to be off-limits, however in a situation in front of a camera, you are always vulnerable. It's the only way to explain Oprah asking about the baby when clearly this was a question they were desperate to avoid answering directly.

that could well be why the list of "don't asks" were created...or the oprah appearance could have been some last-minute damage control to cover up the death of the baby after so much of emancipation was meant to be a celebration of his child's birth and his new life as a family man. it's kinda complicated, don'tcha think?

Maybe he's caught up in rehearsals for the tour. Isn't that more important?

Sorry, but NO. He can easily do 2 or 3 television promotions in between tour rehearsals. It's simply the smart business move to sell millions of albums. Anything else is foolish and missed opportunity while the fire is hot.

dunno about you, but i'd rather have the brotha rehearsing as much as possible than rehearsing and making appearances on cruddy daytime shows on the side.

Especially since the people sitting at home watching it (mid-america housewives and retired people) are not likely to run out and buy the album any way. In past years it's seems as shows like Ellen, Oprah and the like were a waste of time.

Of all of the things on that promo wish list that was posted months back the 60 Minutes interview with Ed Bradley sounded the most interesting.

I know, first his #1 debut is a scam, then his album is crap, now he's not doing enough appearances or shows, then his album is dropping rapidly off the charts, he's not relevant, his quality has suffered, this, that, that, this, bitch, bitch, bitch bitch.

Prince said it best in several interviews.....how people view him is more of a reflection of themselves.

You people don't make sense to me.

When an artist releases a new album, they should do everything possible to promote it.

Prince has done TV appearances in the past. Sometimes he does them when there isn't even an album to promote.

I can't understand how you could argue against the fact that he should be promoting 3121 right now. It's simply good business sense.

IMO Prince has been promoting 3121 for well over a year with all the Hollywood parties, jam sessions and such. Let's not forget "Satified" debut on the NAACP award show some time ago...and I know the question now is, "So what is he done lately?" Well Janet, it's like this, considering he's apart of the great Universal machine, he's done SNL so you know he'll do Leno with an interview to announce the tour. He may even do a prime time NBC special around the summer. My point is, this is not a sprint and with this being a one album deal Universal will be out to make as much money as they can as well as do their best to ensure that Prince signs another deal after this.

I could say/type more but then no one would read this so I'll just leave it here...the best is yet to come.
Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!
