Different "live" renditions?

Prince is about the only artist I can think of that can perform so many different arrangments of the same song "live"that he could do an entire concert performing the same song.

Most artist that I see in concert basically perform the cd version with small changes here and there. Are ther other artsit that really change the songs up in concert? I've seen hundres of concerts and Prince is about the only one that I've seen pull off these strange new arrangements. I love when he does that. I can listen to the cd version on my own time.....

That is a major criticism of the Eagles..they would perform their songs exactly as they sound on the albums, in concert.

Alot of artists play around with the arrangements..Bruce Springsteen does..Kenny Loggins does..

If you had a cheese sandwich every day, it would get boring. Same thing about singing a song. I think Prince (and other artists) do it to keep themselves interested, and to engage the audience

and he does it while maintaining the integrity of the original arrangement, too...which is what i find really amazing. he can play a song which basically has been played the same way for 20 years, but just by tweaking things here or there, it's a whole new experience. i guess what i'm saying is i'm glad there's never been a live reggae version of "kiss" or a rap metal version of "pink cashmere" at a prince show. lol

Something In The Water is a good example , he´s performed so many drastically different versions over the years....

1982 album version
1983 that incredible "piano" version (Studio Nights)
1984 warehouse rehearsal (incredible guitar,14 minutes)
2002 ONA tour/Celebration 2002 version.....very light and breezy
2004 acoustic version during the Musicology tour

or When U Were Mine, my favorite version is from FirstAve,Aug.83
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
