Atari To Buy Nintendo

In a stunning announcement, Atari Inc. announced seperation from its majority shareholder parent, Infogrames Entertainment yesterday. Thanks to a re-establishment of its credit line and surprising last minute sales of its blockbusters Path To Neo and the Atari Flashback 2, Atari Inc. received a massive influx of cashflow allowing it to purchase back a majority share and divest itself. Further bolstered by the upcoming PAL release of the Flashback 2 and pre-order interests for the powerhouse Flashback 3 (which marks a full entry in to the console market), savvy Atari execs managed to use the promised cashflow to negotiate a buyout of Nintendo of America via a 25% stock option in Atari Inc. for Nintendo (of Japan).

There is no word yet as to whether Nintendo's upcoming console, the Revolution, will be released in the US under an Atari branded design. Though there have been rumors of Atari execs in talks with legendary pop star Prince for a future ad campaign.

Atari is nearly bankrupt and Nintendo is worth billions.
