is it me or is S.S.T. a Jam!?

i just found this on cd at a recka stow in D.C. so i bought it again. but at around the 2:50 mark Prince just rocks it. he's doing a lil beat box to it and then the rest kicks in.

pretty jammy to me.

It's you.

Comparatively speaking, Brand New Orleans is a MUCH better song..
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I agree. It rocks. It jumps like it's got a purpose.

I bought it at a Sam Goody, if I remember. Honestly, it's my only contribution to the Katrina disaster... I am so lame...

Just wish there is the DJ Rashida / Plantlife remix of SST included on the CD that was released.

But regardless, SST and Brand New Orleans, all as one track -- is a funky jam. Pretty much 8 minutes or so of solid jazz creole-tinged funk all cooked up one night at The Park. It was something that had to get out and I'm so glad that it did for this specal project.

And still to this day Prince is the only artist to release a Katrina-relief song that goes to aid the relief efforts. And where is MJ? Heard Michael had something in the works, but gosh darn, it's been seven months since Katrina spanked the Gulf Coast.

Not sure if any other musicians have done something like this?

I'm down here in the Gulf Coast right now for class. It's still pretty bad.

I can't stand to listen to the track.
But everytime I've tried I normally turn it off around before the first minute.
Maybe I should just fast forward to the point your talking about.

For me it is a jam.
It is one track, split up in 2 parts (like the ole days singles by James Brown...etc)

Where was the song by Katrina and the waves?? (...a bit weird nostradamuslike, hmm?)

I love this song too. It's fun and funky and you can listen to it knowing it was for a purpose.

It's also not part of any album, which I like. Just S.S.T./Brand New Orleans, by itself.

One of the few Prince songs EVER that does absolutely nothing for me. It's right along side Jughead.

My very favorite part from both SST and Brand New Orleans is that little nasty keyboard groove at the end of SST, just before the loud snare kicks in. Did you mean that one?

I wished he had extended this much too short moment into a full 10-min jam.

I'm glad it's not. I downloaded Plantlife's remix and it sucks.
