Come, I love it!

His best "Throw away/ Snap shot" album by far I still get fuckin chilled listening to this album, Letitgo pure class , I think it would have been taken more seriously if he had stuck some more tracks on it and had been less self indulgent with track 10, but I guess the infamous Orgasm track has been the subject of a mass debate before on this forum lol

I still dont get the fuss about this album. I thought maybe I didnt give it chance when it was 1st released. I actually found it today at a used music store($4.00). Being that I'm still on my 3121 high, I picked it up and I still dont feel it. It just isnt my cup 'o tea, I guess. shrug

I guess prince never saw this particular album (and the others that followed) as his best body of work, as far as I understand it, it was kick booted out quickly and unloved to hurriedly fore fill his album deal with WB, but I think if you take time out to dust this bad boy off it still stands up today!

AWJ

Imagine what could have been if all was rosy in the WB/Prince camp at the time of its conception, or maybe that's the point without all the problems he was experiencing this album may never have been!

Mmmm, tough I want to love 3121 because I know it has been made with love, and contains a lot of commercially viable material and of course I want it to do well, but COME is a bastard son who has a lot to offer but only if you will listen!

Pheremone is at in the top ten of all-time favorite Prince songs. Letitgo is a smooth classic. The beginning of Papa is amazing...really not a bad album considering that (from what I have read/heard) it was thrown together to appease and complete his contract with WB.

Come...I won't say I love it wink But I do love listening to it.

You´re right, but then again, keep in mind that a lot of those songs had also been used for the Glam Slam Ulysees project and were , at some point, supposed to go on the Gold Experience...I mean, Prince himself kinda dissed these songs in his VIBE interview back then, comparing them to TGE and playing bits of both albums during the interview, but if he really didn´t believe in them, why did he use almost all of them for that Beautiful Experience TV special ( which, by the way, was fantastic) ?

I think it´s more convenient for him to toss these songs off as throwaways, but he believed in them at some point.

Me, I love both TGE and Come...great times.

In other words u miss the prince who cussed, sang about nasty ass sex and made u feel raunchy & horny?.

Bob George was just a violent womanizer and Camille as far as I can see was just plain funky,,not necessarily nasty.

"Space" -

one of my top favorite Prince songs. Smooth bass line, great chorus, and a verse where Prince just lets his voice do everything ("Ohhh, I've had dreams of us cuddling on the planet Mars..." nicely capped off with the falsetto.) The song is super-cool and, well, spacey. A nice airy feel to this one. One of my all time faves.

"Phermone" is a great song. Other than that, I think "Come" is one of the worst Prince joints ever released. I understand that he was giving Warners filler material, but I guess growing up and hearing classic stuff like "Parade", "S.O.T.T", and "Dirty Mind" spoiled me. I was real disappointed after listening to "Come". I took it out of the player, threw it in the tape box and haven't listened to it since. But if other people love it, then that's cool.

I think he was just fronting, in an effort to make his prince output seem better. His actions speak louder than words and it's quite obvious he put a lot of focus on these tracks at one point. My guess is he simply grew tired of the project eventually, just as he does with all of them.

Easily in my Top 5 records the man's ever done - Come, Space, Pheremone, Dark, Solo, Letitgo... all are some of the most interesting, moodiest stuff he's ever done. And as someone said above, Letitgo is just pure class. It's the rare record I can listen to straight through without a skip, and definitely his best and most consistantly great since SOTT in my eyes.

I also love how it all sounds - a little cavernous, but spacey and lush at times.

And the less bombastic, more reasonably-realized theme and approach is completely refreshing after the previous three NPG/Graffiti Bridge oriented albums.

If you love "Space", then find the "Universal Love Remix". IMO, this is one of his finest remixes hands down. This is "Space" taken to another level. BTW: I love this entire album. Beauty.

Yep, got the Space EP "Funky Stuff Remix" does it for me, however I did not find the Letitgo remix's from the single to be as good as I had hoped, still preferring the original off the album in the end!

With the exception of Solo and Orgasm its a great album. Its not self indulgent, but track one is indulgent but funky!!! ( U should get that shit started) (Or better yet, fuck on the floor).
Space, Pheromone and Loose you can just dance through, Papa is thought provoking and Race is a bit throwaway but it has a nice message. Dark is easily the best soul ballad ever made (Somebody take these DARK clouds away!). Orgasm like I said is a self indulgent experiment and kind of brings the deep satisfaction to an end. Letitgo restores the tempo and is BLATANTY COMMERCIAL, it gave him a minor hit, easy to see why (I still have a CD single with 7(!!!!!) mixes of it on it. Orgasm is the coitus interruptus to his most satisfying set of the symbol period besides The Gold Experience. Short and sweet.
