That song rocks!!!!
It' my favortie 3121 track. I'm surprised that it doesn't seem to be well liked here.
I like it the first time I heard it.
I hope like hell P plays this at his next concert. headbang

it's a great song but I think it kind of gets snowed
under a bit since the rest of the album contains a
lot of strong, upbeat tracks as well. but when I had
it playing here for the very first time, yes indeed,
i instantly liked it and thought it was a huge step
in the right direction from Musicology

i can see it all now:

girl: how'd you like the concert last night?
guy (confused): what?
girl: i said, how did you like the prince concert you went to--
guy: what? i can't hear you, i lost half my hearing at the prince concert last night! he played "black sweat" and the whole auditorium went deaf!
girl: ugg...wonder if dr. dre had days like this...hmm
guy: what'd you say? speak up!

It's a badass song and video. Prince brought back the "classic" sound on that jam. Now can someone tell me who the other sexy chick (with the headphones) is in the video?

Awesome Clare Fischer sample opens the site. Also there's a great color shot of her from the "Black Sweat" video in the Gallery.

It sounds a lot more fresh and current than musicology. Musicology had a more old skool sound to it but this shit right is slammin! I love this track so much. It sounds like the Neptunes could have produced it.

btw, the little annoying mosquito-buzz of a hook p used in "bs" reminds me of something he did at a paisley party i went to: prince n'them were on stage, jammin, whatever...ol' boy was behind the keyboards. all the sudden, he hit this low-assed note and held it for a good 15 seconds or so. the bass from the note just went straight through my body and made my innards rumble.

ol' boy pipes up on the mic after a few seconds and sez, "i'm gonna make your bowels move!" lol craziness!

...man, i miss paisley parties. pout

I rather can identify with you. It's one of my top 3 fave songs of 3121, along with Love and Beatiful, Loved and Blessed (this song makes me smile every time I hear it). Whenever that first snare crack of Black Sweat comes on, it strikes a very deep place inside me. I always put pressure on my headphones when the track is on, because that makes the song sound better, and more percussive. It's also one of those deals where Prince seems to have satisfied that part of his fan base that liked his drum programming styles. It's also very Vanity 6. And yes, it's a silly li'l ol' pop song, but it still makes me boogie.

Interesting description. Very sensuous stuff going on here. Reads like soft porn literature.

"...Very deep place inside" you, huh? Subtle. Real subtle.

I hear ya. When I play this track I have to turn it up loud. Also, i'd love to hear this song played back to back at a club with Nasty Girl. Now that would be hot!
