I'd maybe go with Purple Rain, although 1999 and Dirty Mind run very close, but that combo of 'go crazy', 'darling nikki' (is that the sexiest song ever?) and then the title track gets me going.
However, if Sign of the Times was condensed into just a single album, and only the best 8 or 9 tracks were picked, i think that it would easily eclipse even purple rain and 1999.

My favourite Prince “albums” are the ones I make up myself. In the old days it was cassette compilations. These days theyre burned onto CD.

At the moment I am enjoying the funk from 1999 like Lady Cab Driver & Critics, most of the Black Album, Housequake & Beautiful Night, Scarlet Pussy, Shocadelica, a bit of Head & Dirty Mind, Controversy & Lets Work… etc etc

If I was to actually give an actual album, today I would say 1999.

A week or so ago I was digging the 92-94 era…

All of these are fantastic and I listen to them endlessly, as you can see 3121 has done well to be between Controversy and the Gold Experience, and I definitely like Musicology too, the sound on this album is gonna age well.
