A Question about Let's go Crazy (Special Dance Mix) This is an excellent extended version. Around the 3:45 min mark of the track you can hear Prince's vocals in the background. Does anyone know what he is saying?

isn't he just repeating the "sermon" from the beginning of the song? that's what i always thought.

It really does not sound like it. I bought Prince Ultimate on Puretracks.com 03/12/06 before the compilation was pulled. I love the extended tracks, they sound excellent. I have been listening to it constantly since. Anyway, the background vocal has always made me wonder She's always in My Hair (extended) and Raspberry Beret (Extended 12") are just great songs

well, i bought it when it first came out on vinyl in 1984 and i've been listening to it for a heck of a long time...it's gotta be one of my favorite extended versions...and it's always sounded to me like he's mumbling the same words that he says at the beginning - "dearly beloved," etc.
you can very clearly hear him say the word "afterworld" before it splits off into that weird piano break.

Let's Go Crazy (Special Dance Mix) Dearly beloved We are gathered here 2day 2 get through this thing called life Electric word life, it means 4ever and that's a mighty long time But I'm here 2 tell U there's somethin' else The afterworld A world of never ending happiness U can always see the sun, day or night So when U call up that shrink in Beverly Hills U know the one - Dr. Everything'll Be Alright Instead of asking him how much of your time is left Ask him how much of your mind, baby Cuz in this life things are much harder than in the afterworld In this life U're on your own And if de-elevator tries 2 bring U down, go crazy Punch a higher floor! If U don't like the world U're living in Take a look around U, at least U got friends U see, I called my old lady 4 a friendly word She just picked up the phone, dropped it on the floor "Ahh! Ahh!" was all I heard CHORUS: Are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down? Oh no, let's go! Let's go crazy, let's get nuts Let's look 4 the purple banana till they put us in the truck Let's go! We're all excited, but we don't know why Maybe it's cuz we're all gonna die And when we do, what's it all 4? U better live now before the grim reaper Come knockin' on your door Tell me... CHORUS Come on, baby Let's get nuts! Yeah (Crazy) Let's go crazy Are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down? Oh no, let's go crazy! (Go crazy!) I said let's go crazy! (Crazy, crazy!) Let's go, let's go! Ahhh! Crazy Dearly beloved We are gathered here 2day 2 get through this thing called life Electric word life, it means 4ever and that's a mighty long time But I'm here 2 tell U there's somethin' else [Did that hurt U?] {x2} The afterworld (That's right) Let's go crazy, people! Let's get nuts! I said let's go crazy! Let's go, let's go! (Crazy) Let's go crazy Let's get nuts Let's go crazy Let's get nuts Let's go crazy Let's get nuts Let's go crazy {x3} Ahhhh! Are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down? Oh no, let's go crazy! (Go crazy!) I said let's go crazy! (Go crazy!) Let's go! (Let's go!) Go! (Let's go!) Dr. Everything'll Be Alright will make everything go wrong Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill Hang tough children He's coming! He's coming! Coming! Take me away! . I think DTT got the lyrics a little wrong there. I'm about 99% certain the
'computer voice' during the repeeated sermon speech in the piano solo actually says "The Revolution". So the section should read like this (the computer voice parts are in brackets, the rest of it is what Prince says)... Dearly beloved We are gathered here 2day 2 get through this thing called life Electric word life, it means 4ever and that's a mighty long time But I'm here 2 tell U there's somethin' else (The Revolution) The afterworld (The Afterworld) That's Right .

I'll have a listen back and pass it on. Currently working on 3121 - but suggestions for amendments / rectifications / clarifications from past transcriptions are always welcome ... similarly, I'm passing on ideas from a recent HQ thread for the very faint spoken words buried in the mix midway through 'Last December'. . .[/quote] [Edited 4/1/06 3:02am] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. I guess those lyrics won't be something like "man, I wanna fuck so bad!"

They do that sometimes. Like I am almost certain that the line of Electric Intercourse they have listed as I feel some kind of sexual courage should be I feel some kind of sexual current. But then, I make lots of faults, English being my second language.

Let me ammendby saying that DTT is my first and often only source for Prince's lyrics, as he sometimes forgets that his lyrics are pondered over OUTSIDE the English language barrier, so it is great to have back up, esp when it comes to albums without lyrics.
I often forget how many people put in hard work so I am able to sing along the right words to Prince's work, esp the outtakes. Thanks guys n dolls! I even forgive you your new outlook!
