Does he/she scream like a white lady when you count to 3? This all depends on if the doctors messed with the voice box, of course. If you get rid of the adam's apple, any man could definitely scream like a white lady. You wouldn't even necessarily have to count.

JediMaster said: Wait, you're saying that, because he's black he's named "Prince" and if he were white he'd be named "King"? Boy, that makes no sense whatsoever!!! Oh wait, since he's black he's in a subservient position to the white man? He's a prince instead of a king? Whatta racist idea!!!!
(For the sarcasm impared, I get what the thread is about. This is my typical smartassery). BTW, "Whitesweat" just sounds stupid. Obviously, the person who started this thread never heard of B.B. King, Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott King... This thread is skatin on thin ice Look, my army of locks are tryin to work up a 'whitesweat'..... Now they've brought the bananas into this... I think comparing Prince and Beck's styles is interesting, but to call Prince the black Beck or to call beck the white Prince to me kinda takes away from their accomplishments. Just my 2 cents on that. I think what kinda got everyone a little on the sarcastic side is how the question was made...like a really weird curveball that hit you in the back.

Prince's force of personality and individuality is so strong, and his self-expression is so quirky and aloof, that if he were "white" but his character was the same, i think he would be perceived pretty much as he is now. I agree. Prince's over-the-top persona is one of the reasons why he does not have mass appeal like Michael or Madonna. You either love him or you hate him. [Edited 3/31/06 9:07am] ----- You don't think Madonna persona is over the top. She does not have half the talent that P has but she walks around like she is the queen of music.

[Edited 3/31/06 9:07am] ----- You don't think Madonna persona is over the top. She does not have half the talent that P has but she walks around like she is the queen of music. Madonna never really did anything that hadn't been done before. Even the more extreme of her moves is just an exaggeration of what's been going on since the dawn of mass media and even before -using sex to sell. The only thing that makes Madonna different is that it's the woman in control rather than a panel of men deciding what sex to use to sell what product. But Prince? He did something that hadn't really been done before on a large, mass-marketed scale. He used female sexuality,in the form of his proteges and even projected onto himself -all that makeup and pretty clothes weren't just for the hell of it, they were a calculated move -to draw attention to his product. Madonna was over the top, but Prince was over the top in a way not done before. It was new, so it scared a lot of people. Hell, it still scares people. afterthought: And before you bring up New Wave or Glam Rock acts, the difference is that New Wave was presented as gay, but basicaly sexless, and Glam was presented as gay or bi. People are comfortable with the idea of effeminate gay men, because it's the stereotype. Prince presents himself as an abnormally feminine hetero man, (i've got my own thoughts on that, but i digress) and since that went and still goes against convention, it makes people nervous.
