Crystal Balls Can we just forget about 3121 and go back to the Crystal Ball days?
I love reading those posts on amp about the fiasco. On a strictly musical note, the album is such a disappointment. Each CD is less than 50 minutes long, and most of it is 1) remixes of songs from the 90's 2) outtakes from mid 90's albums or 3) poor versions of old songs for which superior versions can be found on bootlegs. When is Prince ever going to release all those classic songs in his vault? Just listening to Crucial and An Honest Man makes me cringe. Where are the horns on Crucial? Where is the guitar? I've never heard a worse version! Why is "Tell Me How U Wanna B Done?" on this album? Why is "So Dark" on this album? Jesus put "Moonbeam Levels," or even Diamonds and Pearls outtakes on there! "Schoolyard" baby! "You don't exist again. It's all taken away from you. Even for the richest, happiest and most beautiful people, they move into later life and get old where things start to break apart. They don't exist anymore and they will never exist again." I agree he should have put songs like Rebirth, Moonbeam, Electric Intercourse, open book.. etc...
Crystal Ball (the song) is the only song that really took it home for me. | |
