Rainbow children?

First of all i love the Cd, I dare even say it's his best.

But I wanna ask. The Rainbow children?
Did P come up with them or are they a part of his religion.

And i know nothing of the witnesses of jehova.

I would like some more information on jehova and p's religion.

I just bought this a few weeks ago and was sorely disappointed.
I don't know anyting abou his religion, but this CD seems to smack of it.
The only song I like is Mellow.
And I can not stand that Darth Vader voice segues. They're annoying and a bit scary. eek

Listen to it again.

I hated it after first listen, I almost threw it away.
Now I love it!

The "Darth Vader" segues, as everyone so annoyingly call them, make up such a small part of the album that I'm surprised they're focused on so much. They've never bothered me, not even a little.

I loved TRC from the first listen, and it is what I consider his second best album of all time.

People want to label it as this and that, but they need to just take the time to really listen to it. Too many preconceived notions going in will ruin the experience. I was fortunate to hear it the first day it came out, without reading any of the negativity that has been heaped upon it for the last five years. I made up my own mind and I love it.

TRC is Prince when he's truly inspired. 3121 is just Prince fucking around.

That states it perfectly! And I do like 3121 as even when Prince is just fucking around it is better than most.
But TRC is my second favorite of all time (#1 SOTT, #2 TRC, #3 ATWIAD)

I do not believe 'the rainbow children' is mentioned in any JW text's,
it is just somethin P made up. Instead of singing, "just like the sun, all of god's children rise"...he says the rainbow children, just a metaphor for the chosen ones or god's children....anyway..the cd is one of his best musically.
Peeps need to listen to the music,,,it is so live and funky and trippy....
The lyrics may be about his beliefs, but who cares if u agree or not,,the
music is b e a u tiful!!!

I don;t let others opinions sway me when I decide if I like certain music. for example I like Rave, but it get ragged on a lot here. I only lostened to TRC twice and I will give it a few more tries. I always give something a chance to possibly grow on me, but I don't hink that going to happen. I tried that with NPS and can't make myself get into it.
3121 is not P's best, but I can listen to the whole thing.

i love rainbow children and, no, i'm not a member of the jehovah's witness organization. aside from the music (which is some of the best of p's career), it is a ballsy record. it takes a lot for an artist to expose themself for all to see and, like what you get or not, that is exactly what prince did with this one.

i don't have to agree with what he's saying. i don't have to disagree with it. when something is inspiring to an artist it comes through in the urgency of their work. rainbow children is some serious shit. i love it! i'd put it just below lovesexy (if i had to choose).

Heh more like Prince when he's truly high... but you can call it inspired if you wish rolleyes

I HATED TRC when I first heard it... when I second heard it... and third... but i was determined to 'get it' I eventually grew to like the album for what it was worth. But it does not come close to being amoung my favorite.

That said.. it did grow on me and I can see why some would rate it so high... but... that is mearly thier opinion.

Does the only time that Prince is inspired is when he makes some music which most people would go "Huh,,, Wha..??" too?

I say no.

Persaonaly I thought he was inspired on albumas like The Gold Experience, Emmancipation & Lovesexy... to name a few. I REALLY thought he was just high on TRC.

To me with TRC, Prince was simply on a trip. A trip I didn't think was all that.

But hey.. thats my opinion.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but if you are, then I agree with you. I hate religion. I'm an atheist, but I love TRC! The voice is whack, but the music is genius. Lyrically, it's some of the best he's every done and the music is top notch! Very sophisticated and interesting stuff!

I think that RT is greeeeeat...way better than PR...
But I think that the point about being a Prince-fan is that you should enjoy his travel in music.
The main thing about Prince is and has always been "the travel"
It's sort of like life it selv...sometimes you chose the wrong way, but instead of looking back you just keep on moving...that is Prince to me...and I love him 4 it:)
