next three albums through NPGMC

there seems to be alot of confusion over the next albums the club members will be receiving, so i thought i would share my info. I bought the ONA tourbook, and at the very end it says:
R U ready 2 B A Part

NEW POWER GENERATION?
Join The
NPG Music Club!

access these new cd's...
last december
One Nite Alone...
The Best Of 0(+>

(I hope this helps reveal some more info about the cds. if everyone knew this already, I'm sorry!)

I thought Madrid 2 Chicago was mentioned in the tour book also as one of the four.

That is the funniest fucking thing i've read in a long time!!

In prince's defense, the tour programme info with the cd's mentioned above was posted here a few times in the past few months. so, you could have gotten this warning previously.

Now, that said, he could change his mind any time--or even release live versions of his O+> hits, so who really knows.

Just to clarify...

The Best Of prince CD mentioned is the double album of 'New Master' versions of 'hits' re-recorded by Prince while he was still called prince. (it's the album where '1999 - the new master' comes from) It's also supposed to include 4 (or 5) new tracks (well, they were new about 3 years ago).

And to clear up another point...
The four CD's mentioned in the One Nite Alone tourbook were only the projected albums at that time, and are quite likely to change.

I cannot be the only one who thought that "1999: The New Masters" sucked, can I?

If the "Best of prince" disc contains shit that is as bad as that "1999" turd of a disc, I will be disappointed.

I would much rather have a double re-mastered hits than a live CD.

I have loads of live CDs, some a great, but all are overrated. They NEVER capture the feel.

I would rather hear the old songs re-worked, to see if/how Prince has developed.

He could trash some, but make others better.

I think the live album should come from NPGMC downloads. If he can give a radio station 5 tracks, he can give us 5 tracks. If he can give Days of Wild away, he can and should give it to NPGMC members.

Add 1+1+1=3, and we have 7 tracks already. He could give us another 7 from this year, or we can use the stuff from NPGMC year 1. Theres your live album.

I want fresh "jelly", not live, dubbed 10 minute sax and bass solos!

Well, the only thing for sure is IMO that one of the CDs (most probably the next one) is the instrumental album Xenophobia.

Not sure about this...at the very first Celebration, I asked Prince's (then) engineer, Hans, about the supposed new masters. He said that Prince had yet to re-record anything apart from '1999: TNM'. He said that he started a new version of 'Let's Pretend We're Married', but it was never completed. Of course, this was two years ago, and as we all know, alot of changes take place in Prince's world in two weeks, let alone two years...

R u sure 'disappointed' is direct enough??? hehe Ugh I sharply hail what u said ... except I dont think ‘1999’ new masters was a total blunder, I admit I have the single and it does get air time, and when im under the weather it can be bracing ... u cant take a good song down! ... it just would have been nice 2 have seen him use his cunning 2 come up with something fresher ... and unheard of, not that he doesnt already do that often hehe but hell smile

regarding the schedule of the NPGMC2002 releases. I have yet to receive ONA (signed up late) but was told to expect it with the next shipment 'later this summer'. So perhaps we can all expect the 2nd instalment around August? (and ONA for this here fan smile

Good point, IstenSzek. I love the way he treats his old songs in concert these days (Dolphin, Paisley Park, 4 The Tears In Your Eyes, The Other Side Of The Pillow...), but it's just that: it's live!

From what I've read about the celebration, those shows are the kind of shit I'd like to have released! Prince unplugged! Prince in rock! Great live performances with great sound!

I can do without more 1999 TNM. Leave the original recordings, but continue to fuck around with them live, Prince!
