"GUITAR MIX" ALBUM

hi all, since purchasing 3121 and witnessing prince tear up SNL and the brits with FURY i have decided to make a mix cd of great guitar trax from various albums. i have decided to restrict myself to only using studio album versions of the songs and trax that r legally avaliable. i also have decided to try and get as much of a "live band" feel as i possibly can. my inspiration for this mix cd is the fact that i have read many posts on here stating they wish prince would do a proper rock album and also because i recently had a conversation with a non fan who saw SNL and said "they never knew Prince could play the guitar like that!!!" so this is for the guitar fans i guess lol
what do u all suggest????

"Private Joy" is the closest I've ever heard him sound like Jimi. I just found it funny that he swore (back then) that he never listened or heard of Jimi...and BOOM!..there's the solo. But I understand now why he said that back then.

"Into The Light"

- as straight forward a rock song Prince ever did. We even get the old rock cliche of "backwards" guitar in this song.

I love this song to death, but I must admit Prince blew it with the inclusion of a sax solo instead of a guitar solo at the break. I do like the sax, but everytime I listen to this song I still scream for a guitar at the break. Still a fantastic song.

This is a guitar mix I made about two years ago. The criteria for the comp was officially released post-1990 tracks only. Here it is:

01) Xogenous
02) Calhoun Square
03) I Like It There
04) Damned If I Do
05) Da Bang
06) The Ride
07) Zannalee
08) Habibi
09) The Same December
10) Xpedition
11) When I Lay My Hands On U
12) Into The Light
13) I Will
14) Joy In Repetition (NYC Aftershow)

cool

I had plans for a volume two featuring pre-1990 tracks, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. wink

I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man should be on there, IMO. It is his one his best examples of a pure pop guitar solo.

gr8 idea, but the only major drawback with doing a mix from all these albums is that the sound levels would be ALL OVER THE PLACE, ruining the overall experience.
