First, let me state for the record, I DO NOT CONDONE PHYSICAL ABUSE! If somebody slapped me like that, I'd STILL be doing time!

That being said, I must tell you though, that the scene in "Purple Rain" where The Kid slaps the dog shit out of Apples, cracks me the hell up every time I see it, and I've seen it at least a thousand times since 1984.

I don't know why I find it so funny, but I do! So if Prince did say they did it for the comedy, I have to agree with him cuz I swear that scene is funny as hell to me.

This movie was really showing a lot of hatred toward women.
I didn't really pay too much attention to all the violence
until I got older. The message was there.
Even a message toward the end of the movie that everyone probably wasn't paying too much attention to because they were busy noticing that the kid and apples were back together in love again --Look he is reaching his hand out
